.....I think Woods looked good yesterday and really believe Coach Mac wants him on the field as much as possible. I foresee Reynolds' rookie year to be more of a learning/training experience for next year.

Also, what does IOW stand for?

Don't misunderstand, Arky. I'm a big Woods fan, myself. Like I posted, great signing and perfect for the young Goff.

But I think Reynolds is gonna be special. Really, really special. I think that he will force McVay to give him more and more snaps. And those snaps will come mostly at the expense of Woods.

When you think of it, it's almost mind boggling how far our WR room has come in one offseason. We could, by maybe midseason, find ourselves with a starting trio of the following:

Watkins
Kupp
Reynolds (or Woods)

Keeping these guys on the sidelines:

Tavon
Woods
Cooper
Thomas (maybe)

THAT'S a helluva WR corps, if you ask me.

To summarize, it's not that Woods is disappointing anyone. It's just that Reynolds, (imo), has the higher ceiling and will have to be given more and more snaps. A VERY nice problem to have, huh?

Incidentally, IOW is the acronym for "in other words".

That still stings....reminded me of Roger Craig....running through our defense...just a painful memory...and speeded my thoughts that Fisher must go. those 3 following wins didn't matter.

That game did me in too. It was an absolute catastrophe. As was losing to the Dolphins and their young offensive HC at home thereafter, that was an eye opener too.

Not gonna bag on Fish though, as I respect the dude and all. He just set himself up for failure by not being aggressive enough with his OC hires. Somewhere there's an alternate universe where he hired Hue and things were much different but in this one he made all the wrong moves there and paid for it by not getting the job done in damn near 5 full years, being fired, and having his name trampled in the media.

That's where McVay just impressed the F out of me day one, bringing in a HoF DC to run his defense. I mean holy F he's 31 and already knows what Fish and so many other seasoned HCs didn't, that you gotta bring in quality staff on that other side of the ball you don't know as well. I mean I remember when Norv came available, thinking that I'd hire him immediately as executive OC above the OC and if the other guy wants to quit so be it. And I'm sure Stan would have agreed to pay the dude too. But what happens? Fish knows more than everyone else, and well you know the ending.

And lastly listening to Demarco this am on ESPN LA radio (ok I listened to hear Meshawn squirm and man was he squirming lol) he mentioned how he loves to stand near McVay and Phillips on the practice field and watch how McVay absorbs and learns as they go back and forth on things. It just really brought it home to me how special our head coach is dudes. He might not show it this year, but this guy growing into a great HC is only a matter of time. It's not if, it's when.

Like he's too insecure to hire REAL talent on that side of the ball....

I never thought Cigs was the whole problem...injuries were...and that blocking.

wow, Demarco was on late last night too...he was talking about other games...mostly that garbage Cowboys win...but you could tell, he was glowing....beaming....any caller that brought up the Rams...he clearly believes...A bunch of former players love what's going on....Jim Everett basically is just like ED....so happy to see this offensive system...matched with sonofbums defense.

I don't think a bunch of our younger fans realize how dominant we were? No, they didn't win a Super Bowl....but we'd beat down teams like this....and always went to the playoffs. It's a good feeling. It's a 1999 type feel.

Still worried about that o-line tho

This. McVay understands when to let go of the gas pedal, also impressed with his balance between clock management and avoiding injuries: If you watch some of Gurley's runs and our receivers' catches, notice that they'll run out of bounds despite having the scoreboard in our favor; you'd normally have a player simply take the hits to keep the clock going but a comfortable 3-score lead in McVay's approach warrants just going out of bounds to avoid injury.

Sorry if this isn't what you meant, but this is the 20th time I've read someone mention going out of bounds (for good or bad), but it seems people still think it's years ago when the clock stopped when the ball carrier goes out of bounds.

Not true.

This only happens in the last 2 mins of the first half and the last 5 mins of the second half.

So the team isn't doing anything stupid by going out of bounds when they have a big lead in the 3rd...

I agree with much of this but if we don't fix some things we WILL be exposed. Having no opinion on Sullivan I watched the game replay and was stunned by the poor play at C. Yes, pass blocking was good all day but run blocking was as bad as 2016 if you consider holding a bad thing. We even have a play where the C pulls and Everett does not block his man. The Colts' DT reached out, held and knocked down Sully with one hand. The man he was supposed to block blew up Gurley 6 yards in the backfield. Why do you think we keep signing Centers? Sully got beat on running plays all day.

I believe, going back to the 80's, Wade Phillips has made it to the playoffs the first year as the DC of a new team every single time.
