What a career. He was never quite elite IMO. But for years on end, he delivered way above average RT tackle play. He may be one of the most consistent Rams I have ever seen. Certainly, to main that consistency for that many years on end. Not much variation from year to year, or game to game in Big Rob's performance. He always delivered his usual, reliable, good-to-great, not quite elite, performances (but his run blocking in particular was excellent). A real pro. He always put his body on the line, never complained, quietly went about his business, put his head down and worked hard. He will be missed

Injuries really got to him at the end. If he could only stay healthy and not be hampered by physical ailments hurting his performance, I truly believe he is still a starting caliber RT. But at his age, with a young family, millions earned, a Super Bowl ring... hard to justify carrying on through the pain, tedious rehab, and potential impact on life after football.

Hard to believe he was drafted in 2015. Feels like yesterday.

Can you imagine retiring at 33 and being set?
Yes ... Yes, I can imagine it.

Now, if I only could have done it ...

The Rams' Team site has an article by Stu Jackson titled:
Rob Havenstein stayed true to himself across an 11-year NFL career.

It's mostly just comments from the Rams O-Linemen but it's really quality stuff ... Dotson, Jackson, Shelton, McClendon, Dedich, Humphries and Arcuri all provide some insight and their respect & appreciation.

In this era of free agency, Rob Havenstein was a fixture on the Rams OL for his entire career. A true Ram and not a mercenary, like so many others.
