That's the only reason...And probably to scout some QB's is why they want him sooner rather than later....
That's what I'm thinking. But still, and you may be thinking the same, that doesn't indicate that they needed to jump right away. Interview some guys to make sure you otherwise wouldn't have wanted them but I would suggest we would have been putting on the hard press if we really wanted someone we thought would go elsewhere. Not sure a second interview says hard press to me.

One thing is for sure though. I would much rather they let some dust settle and scout out an OC much like they have been with draft picks than go with a known commodity just because the media has a list.

Why do we need this to happen now? Where's the fire? I am frankly glad he chose another landing spot. There were no qualities of excellence on his resume. Just another Schotty type being recycled through the system. I would hold off on hiring an OC we are closer to the draft. At that point you can still grab most of the guys on your short list, or promote from within.

I won't ever loose any sleep over "missing out" on a mediocre coach. Speaking of that, this really is one of the biggest moments in Fisher's career. If he has another Walton like whiff here, and things go south, the chances are he will never be a head Coach in the NFL again. JF is a prideful man, I am sure that he has to start feeling his chair getting warm.

Hold off on hiring an OC until after the draft... and who's going to be available by then? And that's four months lost where they could have been implementing their system and getting the players and rest of the coaches prepared. No, this needs to get done asap imo. Not to mention you want your coordinator's input on any players you draft, it would be a pain if you just drafted players that don't fit the new coach's system.

I changed that after the draft part after I submitted it. I thought I edited that fairly quick, so nice catch.

The point being, it does not have to be a rush job. Hacket was nothing special, the Rams can do better. Personally, I think they are going internal, and I am fine with that.

I think it'll be Martz based on no other reason than sheer hope and excitement. Afterall, JT did say Fish may have something up his sleeve.. Just imagine the applause and pandamonium there would be if he got hired. Build the online, draft a young qb like Grayson and watch out!!

We can be upset, but come on... As fans, whoever they hire, we're going to convince ourselves it was the right move. So does it really matter?

And then blame him in September. What's that cliche..."rinse and repeat"? Yup.

I won't do that tho.

I might actually fly out for a game if they were to bring Martz back.

Boras spent five seasons (1999-2003) at Nevada-Las Vegas under head coach John Robinson including three seasons as offensive coordinator & Boras served as offensive line coach for five seasons.
I like this piece of his resume.

If anybody could find a diamond in the rough it'll be Martz! Your right it would be crazy in the LOU and fan base if he got hired. I wonder if Fisher's ego would allow something like this?

Can somebody, anybody please tell me that Martz wouldn't be our worst option right now?
I don't think he would be, hell I think it'll be the opposite TBH. If he could get our offense to be ranked about 15th overall with our D?? please....

Obliviously we'll have to fix the O-Line first and foremost with his schemes and let the search/hunt for a QB begin! He could find a half ass decent one if Bradford is one more and done.

Maybe the delay is Fisher/Snead mulling over Martz. Maybe...
Haven't thought of that, to be fair I could see a delay with the mulling part! lol

Problem is there have been zero reports of us interviewing him, you think it could be back channel type without a interview? Just contacting his agent etc.?

Prior to San Francisco, Fisher reunited with his college coach John Robinson, serving as the Los Angeles Rams’ defensive coordinator.

Fisher began his coaching career as an assistant for Buddy Ryan and the Philadelphia Eagles in 1986, coaching the defensive backs for three seasons before becoming the NFL’s youngest defensive coordinator in 1988. In 1989, the Eagles’ defense led the NFL in interceptions (30) and quarterback sacks (62). In 1990, Philadelphia’s defense paced the league in rushing defense and ranked second in quarterback sacks.

A former defensive back at the University of Southern California, Fisher played for Robinson in a star-studded defensive backfield that included future NFL stars Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith and Joey Browner. Fisher’s career college statistics included five interceptions and 108 tackles. The versatile Fisher also served as the Trojans’ backup kicker and earned Pac-10 All-Academic honors in 1980.

As Usual, Knox Moves Quickly
January 12, 1992 | MIKE PENNER
In his first official act as Ram head coach, Act II, Chuck Knox grabbed and rattled the franchise by firing the franchise's once and future Fisher King, defensive coordinator-in-standing and head coach-in-waiting Jeff Fisher. It can be construed as an act of vanity; there was no way Knox and his Irish pride would ever agree to play stopgap and transition team to the 33-year-old Fisher's rising star.

Knox Proves That He's in Charge : Rams: Georgia Frontiere asks her new coach to keep Jeff Fisher. But defensive coordinator is fired, changing team's long-range plan.

Jeff Fisher, who came to the Rams one season ago with the immediate responsibility of rebuilding a ruined defense and with the unspoken understanding that he would be a featured part of the team's long-range plan, crated up his belongings Friday and left Rams Park. Fisher's role as the team's heir apparent, devised by the Ram front office, almost certainly vanished with him as new Coach Chuck Knox plotted his own course at breakneck pace.

Holy crap FIsher could of been our coach a long time ago! lol
Never knew any of this.... Do you know anything about Knox at the time? Was the fan base happy or sad about these moves? I ask you because of your avatar and assume your a long time rams fan, the older generation has to educate the younger rams generation since we weren't football competent! lol

p.s. interesting about Fisher and Robinson thank you

Sadly I'm 41 years old, in 1985 is when I became a football fan (grade 5) big Jerry Gray fan and ED fan, So lets hope some of the older LA Rams rams can educate us both on Chuck Knox...
