Can he pass block with very minimal reps if he starts early this season?

I'd rather be safe than sorry. If the Dr. says Gurley can play week one I would take that and add a few more weeks. Besides Mason is perfectly capable of carrying the load for a few weeks.

With Fisher that may have been the case regardless (see the 2014 first round picks), I'd probably start by giving him some carries game 1, but let Mason carry the load, and eventually even it out (never giving either say 90% of carries).

TBH, I'd rather have Pead or Benny blocking on third down early in his rookie season.

Agreed on 3rd downs. Rams will be passing in first and second downs too, i don't' know how good Gurely is with little to no reps until late mini camp. I would rather see Gurely not start the season but slowly ramped up.

Right, but on first and second downs, he might need to block a couple times to help sell a fake and not telegraph the pass.

Pead won't be here.

We'll see, he's a Fisher guy. Interesting to see how many RBs we keep this year.

Knees are weird. Sometimes guys get hit and I think, "he is not getting up," and they are fine. Sometimes a guy plants his foot without being touched and blows his knee out. Every play is literally, potentially a knee injury for every player on the field, whether they have had knee issues or not. I try not to get too caught up in it. If he is cleared, I am good. Had Sam not gotten hurt on that play, he might have played the rest of career without ever hurting his knee, OR he might have blown it out the next time he got hit. There really is no way to tell.

Ya know how we all have a guy that we depend on for stuff that needs to be fixed that we can't fix ourselves, well Dr.Andrews is that guy

Andrews is THE guy when it comes to knee, elbow and shoulder repairs.

Well I'm not a Dr but I think to put him in uniform in the preseason would be taking a risk. I've had a torn ACL and just when you think it's all heeled is when you can find out it's not. The Rams are deep at RB give Tre and the others some early season time and then introduce a healthy Gurley to the NFL...

Didn't the same Dr clear Sam to play? I sure hope they don't rush him just because the signs are good. I would think he is going to need time to get to full strength as well. Just nervous about all the talk of him starting right away.

Yes, Bradford...and Adrian Peterson...

...and Bo Jackson, Jack Nicklaus, Drew Brees, and about another 50 people a week. If he clears you, that's as good as it gets I hear. But, it only means you're fully healed and rehabbed. It's not a warrantee.

My stomach gets a little queasy hearing people talk of torn ACLs. Please, let's not speak of it again.

Is this a normal reevaluation or is this a setback??

How do we know?
I would imagine it's just a normal check up. Just a couple days ago there was the report where Gurley said he feels great and thinks he has a good shot at being ready for training camp.

Rams have been snake bit with ACL's, they better take is slow with Gurley.
Ain't that the truth.
Chances are Mason picks up where he left off and Gurley can take his sweet time getting integrated into the offense.

A list From Twitter....and this is way incomplete because I dont see any Dodgers on it. Dr Andrews is credited with perfecting Tommy John surgury. Frank Jobe, the former Dodgers team doctor, is credited with inventing the elbow ligament replacement procedure that saved Tommy Johns career, but James Andrews was a Jobe protege and is widely considered the one perfected it.

Andrews' list of patients include Carlos Beltran, C.C. Sabathia, Jamaal Charles, Tom Brady,[7]Albert Pujols, Matt Harvey, Michael Jordan, Jack Nicklaus, Emmitt Smith, John Smoltz, Troy Aikman, Ivan Nova, Josh Johnson, Charles Barkley, Roger Clemens, Drew Brees,[8] Reggie Bush, Andrei Markov, Bo Jackson, Adrian Peterson, Hope Solo, Marcus Lattimore, Robert Griffin III, Brett Favre, Ryan Broyles, Rajon Rondo, Mark Sanchez, Michael Morse, Jonny Venters, Nerlens Noel, Rickie Weeks, Sam Bradford, Braxton Miller, Dave Batista, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, John Cena, Edge, Randy Orton, CM Punk, Matt Moore, Tiger Woods, Lindsey Vonn,[9] Brian Cushing, Navorro Bowman, Kiko Alonso, Rob Gronkowski,[10] Alex Cobb, and Dante Fowler .

Yeah - a warrantee would be a bit silly. But if you really wanted to go that route, Sam didn't do well, Bo Jack didn't do well, Jack retired soon after and I believe he was already playing in the senior tour. Even still, I'm not questioning Andrews' credentials. It depends more on what is being asked. Do you really want to compare a golfer's shoulder to a knee for an NFL running back or QB?

And.... 50 people a week? Sounds like an HMO. THAT's what I want to put my faith behind. I would hope that someone at the level of Andrews - who is being asked to cut on some of the most high profile athletes in the world - would be seeing MAYBE 50 a year and probably less.
