I believe thay was SJs 2nd year. That season was the ONLY season he consistantly ran behind his pads instead of upright. I never understood his running style while being that big... If he ran behind his pads he would have been one of the best RBs to ever play thr game imo

You may be right about it being his second, I thought 3rd, but either way.. and yeah, Jackson had a tendency to revert back to his natural upright style, but in times of needed short yardage he was always better after that.

I’m not sure about the same backfield - but I’m perfectly comfortable with spelling Gurley more often.

Remains to be seen if this Anderson magic can continue against teams that aren’t picking first or second in the 2019 draft.

idk, I hope they don’t go into the playoffs throwing 50 times a game. Might have to take a page out of Seattle’s book until they start respecting the play action again.

Couldn't hurt to give the next opponent a different look with two RBs. Jet sweep with TG sounds interesting.

Heck Rams could go back to the two TE formations too. I think McVay needs to mix it up some. Shorter routes until they get the running game going. Then get the play action going.

I'd love to see us occasionally put Gurley at WR with Anderson at HB. It's going to force the defense to make some difficult personnel decisions. Plus, being able to use that jet motion with Gurley will open up some big plays. But for the most part, I'd use Gurley at HB with Anderson spelling him where needed. I might consider using C.J. for 3rd and 1 type situations because I think he has an advantage there.
I like it. I would line them both in the back field to get them to change the D. Then with the same personnel line up I would go no huddle and put Gurley out wide and do it for as long as you can before they fake an injury. Give us power and versatility and tough matchups.

I think Parcells called Otis Anderson his "Pillow Man" back in the day, and he used him to soften & wear down the defense particularly late season and in the playoffs. CJ is a similar type back, he's a damn load and on the interior zone runs is a guy who can have that effect.

I'd mix in CJ from the first quarter on, and keep Gurley fresh. Gurley needs to be in there for about 15 carries, with the same amount going to CJ. Let the OL fire off and try to wear those Bears LBers down.

Their LB corps is the heart of their defense. Mashing them a bit for play action is going to be a requirement and if we don't run it well enough we're going to lose.

I wouldn't change the offense to get a power back in with Gurley.
Anderson allows the Rams to spell Gurley and not change anything.
That is the biggest thing.
Agreed
Use Anderson in the same roll as a back up and fill in as needed.

You don't have to necessarily change the offense but adding some additional plays for adjustment sake I'm all for and it could create a problem for the Bears jet sweeps Gurley with a backer on him our offense was horrific against the Bears so some tweaking and some stuff that teams haven't seen is what the playoffs are all about obviously execution and turnovers being of utmost importance. And perhaps play some defense lol
Hopefully Mcvay learned something from our one and out last year and the last meeting we had with the Bears.
He's a young and very smart coach with a bright future ahead of him .
Just glad to be in this situation.

Brad Perna is pretty dang funny. It does have some blue language, but is very instructive about our guy, C.J. Anderson. (This is too funny, lol)

Brad Perna is hilarious indeed. Where is our resident Rams wiseass who can do these types of videos each season? I nominate @-X-. (y)

Interesting that Perna called Anderson the best blocking RB in the NFL for the 2017 season. He also noted that Anderson racked up over 1,000 yds rushing behind an O-line that ranked in the bottom 10th of the NFL.

Btw @LoyalRam any news from the docs on your condition?

The Bears are #1 in the NFL vs the run and #7 vs the pass.

A simple answer like shove it down their throats and run the ball is probably a recipe for disaster.

If you rewatch our game vs the Bears you will notice 2 interceptions came as a result of Goff being hit as he was throwing and thus the passes were altered. A third interception came on an end of half hail marry which contextually shouldn’t count towards evaluating our pass game vs the Bears.

Our pass game can beat the bears but the timing of the ball coming out of
Goff’s hands needs to speed up. You also have to help Sully with Hicks and also double Mack. I can see a split RB set for this exact purpose.

The Bears are not that good on the road.

If we play our game and throw the Bears pass rush off with quick passes, counters and rollouts, and block the correct pass rushers we could score on them.

Don’t get me wrong, I would try to run the ball, but if it’s going backwards I try to beat them through the air with the right adjustments.
The Rams are one of the best play action pass teams in the league so it needs to get better and quicker as Texas Ram posted

I am hooked with Brad "I love C.J.Anderson, but hate John Elway" Perna. Yes, I second -X- 's nomination.

As for me, my heart survived the stress tests, but will undergo more testing with my family Doc. Itfeels good to cut off my hospital tag and get that damned IV outta my arm! Thanks for asking ;)
