Los Angeles Rams’ kicker Greg Zuerlein did his part in the team’s Week 1 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football. Connecting on four out of five field goal attempts, and nailing each of this three extra point attempts, Zuerlein is now being recognized for scoring nearly half of his team’s points in Week 1.

The Rams’ offense put GZ in a good spot on Monday night, providing him opportunities to punch them through the uprights on attempts of 20 yards (twice), 28 yards, and his longest of the day came in the fourth quarter - which he kicked off the dirt of the Oakland A’s infield - was 55 yards.

It marks a great start to the season for the Rams’ kicker, who won the Special Teams Player of the Week award twice in 2017 — following standout performances against the Cowboys (Week 4) and Texans (Week 10).

A little OT, but serious fantasy football players wait until the last two rounds to take a kicker and defense. If you play with someone who is auto drafting, they usually take the "best" one in rounds 8-9 or so.

My dad is a serious homer and takes GZ and the Rams D in like the 5-7 round range - he did this last year with Gurley and won the championship.

Did that again this year with GZ and the D and if they end up the highest scorers again, by a wide margin, I think it will seriously raise the question of when to draft them next year among serious players.

The idea behind taking a RB/WR/TE early is the (projected) drop off from the elite to the non-elite - I'll have to do some research but I wonder if GZ and the D are approaching a drop off comparable to that idea.

I take GZ and the defense around the same range too. GZ is almost like having another Wr or a elite type of TE

Anyone know if GZ is completely out of the woods with injuring his back again, or possibly a ticking timebomb to reinjure it again? Hopefully, the former.

If he wasn’t fully recovered, there’s no way he’d be kicking it out of the end zone on kickoffs.

That 55 yarder would have been good from 70. Super happy for my dude. I think he misses a couple more kicks this year but he will make some longer ones.

The question is when does the long time record come down ? Rick Dempsey & 2 others ?
