I get it but those TVs are 10 years old now. They've lived a good life.

If you get 10 years out of your Tv now you've done well.

.
I'm going on 15 years with my home tv's (3 of them)
No reason to replace
Would love to cut the cord however the only wifi available here is so shitty I'd hate to rely on it for everything

.

Don't you guys have smart TVs yet? What's this talk about firesticks and chromecast?

.

The “smart tvs” phone home like crazy, the tv manufacturers sell the data and if there’s a mic on the remote, they often stay on recording the whole time…

It’s more secure to NOT use any apps on the TV and simply use an HDMI input be it a firestick, chromecast, Apple TV, or game console like PlayStation or Xbox.

Just put them on the list with the rest of the businesses that know everything about us.

Exactly. If you're worried your TV remote is listening, what do you think your phone is up to?

So I'm interested in Youtube TV. I can get the ticket for $249. Anyone have any experience with Youtube TV. My smart TV's have youtube apps but not youtube TV. I assume I'll have to get a couple roku boxes to make it work? My comcast it gonna be cancelled next week. So I gotta do something soon.
I am VERY HAPPY with YouTubeTV. I added the 4K option, and my picture is fantastic. The app on my iPad is slick.

There are a few pixel buffers at times, but that could be my internet connection.

zilch. It's the rest of the phones in the room that bother me.
Well, minimal info anyway... I have a Linux based phone (OS) that emulates most of the droid stuff -- yet does not spy on you or your surroundings. Now apps are another thing - but you can put them to sleep if you are not actively using the app.
It's a dam intrusive world out there..... :(

Just some FYI, I heard some false info today on a podcast I listen to, so I figured I'd see what I could find. (And it wasnt hard to find at all)

Its crazy how expensive Comcast has gotten with their internet. And I never knew I had a data limit because I never reached it until recently. They charge $125 for their best internet. Then another $15 to rent to modem. Along with fees and surcharges.

I switched to Tmobile wifi since I have Tmobile for my phones. $50 bucks a month for unlimited data. No taxes or surcharges. No modem rental. A flat $50 bucks a month. They sent the wifi modem along with a wifi booster to put in another room for better signal strength. And they promised they don't throttle it back if you reach a certain data use point. So far its working every bit as good as Comcast.

Now I just gotta decide between Direct TV and Youtube TV for the channels I want.

I’ve got the same 5g T-Mobile set-up you have. I have had it 10 months and pretty happy with it. I don’t watch a lot of TV but it’s great 4K+ video quality.

What speeds do the 5G WiFi offer?
