I don't wanna let Barron go. Mainly bc I don't wanna face Barron on another team.

Doubt he'd be as effective in most if not all other systems. Now careers are short, so the Rams are going to need to be competitive in their offer, but most players are very ego driven. Barron is going to like the pro bowl appearance he gets after this season if he stays healthy.

I wouldn't call a 4th and 6th round pick "a premium"

but we definitely got a premium in return :D
plus he can play multiple positions well. excellent tackler. actually the whole team is now. just a few seasons back, the normal post would include the terms "poor angles" and "weak arm tackling". not now.

Barron is another player that is respobsible for making the Rams D so good this year and getting better. The Rams must resign him.
I think Rams will be restructuring a few contracts next year to be able to sign these guys.

If it came down to McCloud or Barron, it's Barron for me. But I must say a couple words on that.

-McCloud and Barron have different Roles. Barron plays in the box for most of his snaps, McCloud doesn't. McCloud is that "guardian angel" on the back end that Greg Williams likes to refer to. So comparing the two is sorta apples and oranges, but I'm playing the game.

I would pick Barron because he is that rare hybrid the league is turning towards. He didn't work out in TB because they tried to use him as a pure safety. That's not his forte.

And for the one post I saw that said he would not do well on most other teams, I know one team that would love him, the Patriots. They have more hybrids on their defense than any other team. They are ahead of the curp. He would light it up in NE. That really is the best run organization in football, they probably didn't have to cheat to get where they are either. (I know they'd have one less ring had they not cheated, though.)

One thing if OLB/SS Mark Barron was retained by this Ram Org. in 2016 & on...this team is stacked @ Lb'er & Strong Safety units. No need to address these two units in the 2016 draft. Leaving Snead to pluck a CB, NT & DE if a good prospect is available.

Bottom line this passing offensive unit must be tweaked & buffed up in 2016 so this window of opportunity to win a Championship does not go down the toilet.

I have to disagree, WCR.

Barron's play has elevated him into "must keep" status. The Rams will never allow such a playmaker to get away. He's playing at a Pro Bowl level now. Literally. Such players are retained by smart FO's. And Demoff, Snead, and Fisher constitute a smart FO.

The good news is that he may not cost quite an arm and a leg due to his special "hybrid" status. He fits beautifully in GW's schemes, but not so much in some others. In addition, I think he really likes what he sees in the rest of our D and sees our team trajectory as a positive in resigning.

Quite honestly, I consider Barron every bit as valuable as Jenkins. Maybe even more so because of his versatility. You can devise several packages that Barron can excel in. GW has done a great job with that. And he'll command less money than Jenkins. If you can't keep both I say re-sign Barron. The money you save can bring depth and let's not forget about Gaines. If keeping Jenkins is gonna break the bank, I say let him walk and promote one of the youngsters. But don't let Barron walk.

I dont think you let a shutdown corner walk. Barron is valuable because of his versatiliy, and because he's a damn fine defensive player, but you can get guys to fit that scheme, or can adjust the scheme to cover a hole. But that flexibility only comes about if you've got a shut-down corner. They're so valuable.

Both Jenkins and Barron have elevated their games and are now "must keeps".

This FO knows that better than any of us.
