Trying to be positive to really Ram bad news here:

AD now past 30 shows little signs of what usually occurs to over 30 in age pass rushers "the slow descent into lower production". :fistbump1:

Greg Gaines has been trending upward in his performance each & every game so there's that positive. :thumbsup1:

Then there's the 2nd highest paid DL'er A'Shawn Robinson who's been averaging fewer defensive snaps than UDFA rookie DT Mike Hoecht. That should be a degree of concern for a DL who has an average annual salary of $8.5 million, not mentioned or discussed here much as a negative on Robinson. It's way past time he stepped up if it is possible at all. But I am sure we see the normal excuses as to why. But it is obvious that DC Morris & DL Coach Henderson do not desire Robinson on the field that much & he is not that involved in what those two are trying to do.

Rookie NT Bobby Brown has been here from the very beginning of the 2021 OTA action & carried an HD amount of hype as to the positives that his rookie self could bring to this Ram interior DL. Now it's his time to go have to go to work & produce something besides warming the 3 seats on the bench for his rather large butt.

Appear that the selection has been made as to which player will replace SJD. as the Rams activated DB Antoine Brooks Jr.:quiet: and DT Marquise Copeland from Practice Squad. Copeland is a very good run stuffer & nasty for his size. I have always liked Copeland when highly involved with the run defense. Copeland has languished here as a Ram DL since after the 2019 draft now in his 3rd season as a Ram. I am telling you guys & gals he is tough as they come. Positive.:thumbsup1:

Bottom line Snead has done a great job in ensuring that his DL is full & well blended to be able to continue to be the best Ram unit overall at this time even with the loss of SJD.

SJD seems like the type of player that wants to play and may have held back how he was feeling. I don't know how long he continued to play after hurting his pec against the Lions. I hope he can come back.

Robinson has lost some weight and may need to adjust his play. I hope he shows up now that he is needed more. Gaines has been coming on. Hoecht has been filling in but, I'm not sure how he is doing. The Rams need all of them to step up.

The Rams were NEVER going to lose to the Texans over SJD being on the field or not.

Good Lord, Medicine isn't an exact science. No Doctor can diagnose every injury with 100% accuracy as to not only the injury, but the exact extent of every injury. That is a hell of a high bar you have set.

I didn’t see anything to bring this staff into question. What I read was SJD hurt it again and set his recovery back. So much so, that he will no require surgery.

Robinson has a big opportunity along with Gaines. They have had reps and shown they can be effective. No reason to think they won’t.
I think Gaines is killing it and will finish the season in Joseph-D’s spot!

There are lots of fans that want to cut a guy after a missed tackle or a blown coverage, or fire a coach after a bad play - fortunately the team is run by professionals.

Thanks for the bump and article, @BonifayRam ...

Robinson getting serious about his conditioning this offseason has really paid off for the Rams. He's been very impactful in the run game. He's massive and can move.. and is strong AF.

He's great value and an important part of the Rams success.

A'Shawn will only be 27 y.o. next season, and his status has grown immeasurably with his run blocking capabilities now capturing the imagination once reserved for our 'Fearsome Foursome' with Donald, Von Miller & Floyd.

I believe the trade/cut Robinson talk last season stemmed mostly from his CAP hit, but this next year he is ripe for an extension which should reduce that 2022 CAP significantly. This kid's got a great future, and learning his craft next to Donald & Von Miller is the next best thing to sliced bread, ... get him re-signed long term.

I would love that, but don't see it happening.
Brown is next up for that role and if there's any extension coming, it will be for Gaines.. a guy who can really penetrate, as well as stand motherfuckers up in the run game.

With the likely departure of SJD to free agency this off-season, I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of Bobby Brown in 2022, but I'm not ready to concede that his rise in snaps will have a huge impact, they will be more of a gathering experience tool next season unless there's an injury.
No question that Gaines should be extended also, very soon at that, but the issue of money for that front 7 looms heavy. It will be interesting to see what Von Miller's next contract looks like as it could spell CAP Casualty for Floyd as early as 2023. The question of Donald's longevity is another, and whether he'll offer some CAP relief via restructure post 2023.
Gaines, Robinson & Brown may be the future of this D line, but can we afford to hold on to them all with significant CAP going towards Donald, Von Miller & Floyd ?

The cut a player or fire a coach threads are always comical because they'll almost never happen like 99.99999% of the time they won't happen. They're usually terrible takes and ideas on an over reaction. They are typical bad ideas spawned in the GDT.

The good news with Brown is that they’ll have 3 more seasons to see what they have.
I’m not counting on Brown yet, but they have another season to figure that out, so I’m not worried.
Brown is on the SJD plan… basically a red shirt rookie year.. start to get integrated in the second.. a starter in the 3rd. He should be attached to Robinson right now. Robinson changed his body this off-season and it paid off. Brown is a similar beast.

There were several fans that thought DT A'Shawn Robinson after the first 7 games was barely average to maybe okay.

There was also speculation that A'Shawn might be a good trading piece before the trade deadline because of his production after the first 7 games not adding up to his salary cap hit.

I'm not doubting that his overall snap counts and performance over the first 7 games didn't warrant some of these thoughts.

A'Shawn has pretty much only been a rotational run stopping piece in the Rams DL rotation this season.

The Rams recently received bad news about their 2nd best interior defensive lineman Joseph-Day.

Maybe it was a fluke but the Rams (appeared to have misdiagnosed) their surging DT Sebastian Joseph-Day's pec injury.

Joseph-Day injured his pec during vs the Lions and was expected to miss a game or 2 based on the diagnoses from the Rams medical and training staff.

Sebastian's stat line vs the Lions in week 7 was 5 tackles, 3 solo, 1 sack, 1 Tackle for loss.

Why did the Rams medical and training staff think Joseph-Day's pec injury was only a one or two week issue?

Why did they clear him to practice this week if there were any tiny indications he should maybe heal up until after the bye week?

I'm not happy with their diagnoses of his pec. Maybe it was a fluke but now he needs surgery and seems to be lost for the rest of the regular season.

Did the Rams take the correct precautions with Joseph-Day? Was there an MRI done on his pec?

Fluke or not, I'm very happy the Rams stayed the course with A'Shawn Robinson. He maybe had his best game last Sunday at the Texans.

Hoping Bobby Brown III is ready to grow up fast and become a pro as his snap counts might start piling up over the next month.

Rooting hard for you A'Shawn Robinson to play more consistent and help Greg Gaines compensate for the loss of Joseph-Day.

That’s fine & dandy!! I’m a Fan that appreciates The Ram Players. We can go down the list as well.

M. Brockers deserves respect for what he didn’t& The Rams organization for what they did to make all this happen.

Les Snead &!Sean Mcvay are phenomenal. Then add E. Henderson coaching this D-FRONT UP!!

Say as you will. I like The Brown Brothers which no one is even looking at,so there is that. Everything stays the same.Players play, coaches coach. The Rams try to keep building & adding to there Foundation.

Like I’ve been say about this week,it’s special & this team has been excellent.I do know The Rams players also do good mentoring & developing from with in & FA players buy into it all & find there place in it all.

Well there is a thing called the Salary Cap. I don’t know how The Rams do it? Amazing how they can put such a team together.

I count 6 for sure HOF Players in The Rams 2021(22) team. Pretty awesome.

Is anyone counting comp picks ?? Unreal the talent The Rams will loss.
I also know that there is a stock of youth coming along that will make names for themselves.

I believe Snead has this Ram defensive front three in an outstanding position for the future.

The only real serious loss coming at him Free Agency in a month will be NT Sebastain Joseph-Day.

Coach Morris/Henderson should be all smiles & grins :laugh2:about this.

DE- Robinson/ E.Brown/ Williams
NT- Gaines/ B.Brown/ Hoecht
DT- Donald/ Copeland

I still think that :injury::eyeroll::yawn:Terrell Lewis will move from the OLB'er post into a DL pass-rushing position if he is going to make it in the NFL.:hope:

As you know, while in the past I have advocated for just that, although going in to 2022, I don't think we'll have the depth at OLB to accomplish it. Losing Okoronkwo to free agency pretty much just leaves Hollins, Lewis & Garrett in rotation. Hollins may yet get some interior work & Garrett is still a work in progress, but I don't imagine a drafted OLB is really high up our wish list with so many other needs, not unless someone unexpected lands in our lap.
