Rams say they aren't scaling back for Goff
Gotta think that Rams oline is gonna be fatigued after playing the Jets.
Play action on early downs may be only way they have enough time to try intermediate to deep throws.
Same for us, BTW...
----------
Jared Goff is gonna look like me during my one college math class final. Confused, stressed, mistake ridden with a little bit of pee in his undies.
---------
Well when you can't score any points, there's really nothing left to scale back is there?
----------
Good, because we're not scaling back the defense.
Fair is fair....
-------
The thing is, the only reason someone said this publicly is to create the illusion that they won't. If they truly weren't going to scale back the offense, why exactly would you say something about it. They'd just ****ing well show you in the first 15-20 plays. They won't want to expose the kid, he already looked like steaming dog **** in the preseason. Blitzes ate him up, so I expect us to go after him early.
And I don't mean simple blitzes, give him to good stuff early and scramble his head. The defense must blitz the run too.
---------
This one has all the makings of a trap. We have beat the last few teams many thought we wouldn't. This is one many think we should win. Combine that with a rookie QB which tends to be our kryptonite, it's got that familiar feeling us fans have grown accustomed to. I will watch tomorrow with very low expectations.
---------
The thing is with a lot of crazy blitzing you might make a mistake and have the rookie burn you for a TD.....then you boost his confidence. I'd rather pressure him with the front four and hopefully that will be enough.

Rams Pre-Game Thread
Well today's news sucked. Luckily, we're playing a quarterback I have very little faith in. Read the game preview at Welcome to Perfectville.

----------
I think we will be okay. Might have to use some double TE packages to get Ajayi going, but if we can control the clock and not turn the football over we will be fine.
--------
Ajayi will have to earn his keep blocking Sunday. Aaron Donald is coming right up the middle and it wont be pretty if we miss him.
Defense has to get the ball back to offense a bunch. We need at least 2 turnovers, and a big play setting up nice field position from special teams. Gase will need to get creative with this patchwork line, for sure.
They're coming out to feed Gurley, and take pressure off Goff....short passes, quick release. Need to disguise coverages and bring heat on the kid! Knock him around and get him flustered.
In this win streak we've beaten the likes of Big Ben and Rivers.....we got this!!!
--------
I just don't see how both def interior lines don't dominate this game, the three headed monster that is Suh, Phillips and Earl is going to cause serious chaos in the shaky line...i mean it's pure physics at this point..
And I'm not sure how to gameplan against this defensive line with two starters down...
Gotta try to win an ugly game..
Jakeem is really struggling, he bobbled and fumbled on three different occasions last week...shaky confidence right there..let's hope he overcomes..Our mentality will be to scrap and fight to the end, so hopefully ryan can be the difference with exp...
--------
I'll be really surprised if we lose this game. I get that there are matchup issues with Brockers and Donald inside (AD is just an amazing player), but we present the same problems for them (even healthy, their OL is really bad). They're starting a rookie QB who isn't ready and who doesn't have a competent offensive coaching staff to help him out, and doesn't have a go-to receiving target to erase mistakes. This Rams offense just doesn't score points.
Good call on Trumaine Johnson, Aqua. One of the more underrated players in the League, imo. He's playing at a Pro Bowl level this year. Very impressive corner.
It's possible Goff starts utilizing TE Tyler Higbee, who Keenum never seemed to click with. Higbee's a rookie, but he's got legit physical/mismatch talent and flashed a little in preseason.
Ultimately the Rams are just dysfunctional and incompetent both offensively and coaching-wise. We are not. That's what it comes down to for me.
---------
Higbee and Golf did have a connection in preseason. I agree the Dolphins are less dysfunctional
----------
This game its on the defense to keep them from scoring. Our offense isn't going to do anything with the injuries to the oline. Think Tennessee and Cincinnati. If our defense can keep it a low scoring affair we have a chance
--------
Before the Albert and Pouncey injuries I was pretty confident about this game. Now, not so much... at the end of the day, this game is going to come down coaching, IMO. Which coaching staff can limit their respective team's weaknesses and gameplan effectively? I'm hoping Gase and Joseph come out on top here.
---------
It shouldn't be overstated that the Rams would love to have Kraig Urbik and Anthony Steen on their OL. The Rams have one of the five worst lines in the NFL.
----------
Most are predicting a Rams win, but I'm just not seeing it. They've scored 2 TD's in their last 3 games. The big question is, what's the over/under on Cam Wakes strip-sacks?
----------
They have beaten the Seahawks, Bucs, and Cards. Let's hope they don't surprise the Dolphins, too.
