Ummm ya that needs to change! lolFor the record Goff said in his post game presser that the TD to Watkins was the first time Sammy has run that route.

I've been saying for weeks now don't force it. Call the plays and let them happen but a concerted effort to force one guy the ball not named Gurley is a mistake IMO.Ummm ya that needs to change! lol
Without a doubt bro! That connection right there might be able to help us blow the doors off these playoffs teams down the stretch! God how nice would it be to have home field throughout the playoffs? lolWatkins had a step on their guy on another throw early in the game, and Goff just barely missed them. If those two ever get the deep ball down, there will be no stopping us.
I literally have zero problems letting these coaches do their thing! It's amazing how we are starting to BEGIN hitting on all cylinders midseason and healthy. Can't wait until we get into this harder schedule to beat some of these better teams and see where we stand. Plus home field is something i want!I've been saying for weeks now don't force it. Goff is for real, my friend. He's not running a new, gimmicky system that the NFL hasn't seen before (Foles and RGIII), and he's proving each week that his mental acuity is arguably his strongest trait (never true of Anderson).
Don't sweat this one. Goff isn't catching lightning in the bottle. This is the guy we took #1 overall.
I know for you and me this is settled, which is nice.
We both KNEW in the marrow of our bones that with someone innovative (I use Asshole Face as my example) that Goff could be really amazing.
Watching Goff's accelerated learning curve after the abomination of coaching/scheme under Fisher/Boras is just...fulfilling.
I'm so happy that Fisher didn't have the time to ruin this kid. He was such a slam dunk as a prospect imo. He was the rare type of college QB who transcended his system.
Amen to that. It wad bad enough he ruined Vince young's career. He was never the same after fisher mind freaked him. Could've been anything with the right coaching and guidance. Fisher only wanted to freak him up, like he tried to with Goff. I hate that man.

You're right, the deep threat to Watkins is an absolute key to the offense and to making a deep run in the playoffs. (Getting the ball to Watkins in shorter routes and the red zone are not too far behind.) Watkins is the difference between a capable offense and a potentially unstoppable one.
Impossible to scheme against an O in which Watkins can go deep, Woods and Kupp mid range, Gurley and Austin run around the corners, tight ends roam free. All plays executed at very high tempo, with brilliant and unpredictable play variations. No good choice of defensive game plan. No time for a D to adjust on the field.
FYI, according to NFL Prime the Watkins TD was the longest pass (62 yards in the air) of the season.
Sounds like Jim ThomasLooked at the comments on that 3rd and 33 video. What's up with this guy?

Agree on Vince Young. Disagree on Goff.
Fisher didn't want to ruin Goff. On the contrary, he wanted to be the smartest guy in the room like he discovered Goff because his kid went to Cal and he watched Goff while catching a game with his son two years before drafting him and followed him afterwards.
The potential for ruin came from the fact that Fisher had:
a) NEVER developed a QB. Steve McNair was very much a "playmaker" as opposed to a developed QB and Kerry Collins was an FA who'd already been developed.
b) Fisher never ran a system that fostered a QB's development. Eddie George was the engine early and Chris Johnson later. And again, McNair was a poor man's Russell Wilson while Collins was already developed.
c) Fisher had an antiquated view on rookies and the NFL. When he was a player with the Bears in 1984, rookies routinely took a few years to develop. The breakout rookie was rare and there were plenty of coaches who wouldn't even CONSIDER starting a rookie unless they earned the job by a large margin in Training Camp. In 2016, those days were very much behind us.
Lastly, Fisher's defensive mindset never let him open up to there being different ways to motivate players. I mean I think it was Boras who was actually grilling Goff during the Hard Knocks about IF he wanted to be a pro!!! Goff had spent 3 years iirc with Sonny Dykes, who was an encourager, not a screamer and not a Mike Singletary, in your face kind of guy. It never occurred to Fisher that you couldn't treat your new Franchise QB like a rookie linebacker.
So, as I said even prior to drafting Goff, Fisher was ALL WRONG for Goff. I think Wentz would have fit better under Fisher because Goff and Wentz are different people, but the better answer was getting Goff and firing Fisher and I couldn't be happier about McVay.
All that said, I feel comfortable saying that with all the evidence we have, Fisher didn't want to ruin Goff. He simply couldn't have been less prepared or capable of helping him to succeed.
It may seem pedantic, but it's a pretty big difference.
I like your post. But completely disagree on McNair being a lesser Russell Wilson. That dude was a mack truck with a cannon for an arm. He was one of the most dangerous passers outside the pocket ever.Agree on Vince Young. Disagree on Goff.

While i can see your point of view i can't let go of my view.
Coaches try to make their #1 overall rookie qb comfortable when they join the team. Try to simplify things for him. Not fisher. Didn't change a thing. Didn't surround him with any offensive coaches worth a damn. Watching boras interact with him on that crap show made me sick. Like they were trying to embarrass him.
The media lapped it up. Called him a bust before the season even began. Then he put Goff in street clothes in week 1. What reason could he have to do that apart from spite? All the while he rolled out he most uninspiring game plan seen on primetime tv ensuring the rams put up a goose egg. The media ripped Jared to shreds.
These are not the moves of a hc that has the rookie qbs best interests at heart. They looked like the moves of a hc that didn't want the qb and the team forced Goff on him.

I've no idea what he's seeing pre-snap but Goff is very active in making calls at the line compared to a lot of QBs. I've got no clue what he's doing; is he audibling to another play entirely or making tweaks to the existing play?
