How can Grimes be on both the highest and lowest burn rates?

Another savvy NFL stat. Keep up the great work on your stats and consistent reffing.
Check that link...a burn is considered getting 1 yard of separation. Whether or not the receiver the db is covering is targeted....weird huh?

Sure Football outsiders has a better stat.

Or...with an emphasis on scarce resources.... no Coty Sensabaugh's....No Tavon deals....Hell, if I could look, I'm freeing up some Quinn money...No Foles extensions B4 he take a real game snap. Gotta be smart...Hayes & Sims, see ya...

JJ was a premium player for us at a valuable position on a defensive team. while our defense hasn't suffered, one extra stop or turnover on THIS team probably equals 2 or 3 wins...

I agree it takes a judicious eye. Also some luck.

IMO the Tavon deal is fine because what Demoff did is hedge that while he isn't worth it this year with a good QB he will be worth more than the 2-4 years. I think he did this deal to provide a game breaking weapon for the new QB.

It's important to remember that Jenkins is the one who shut down the contract talks because he felt "disrespected". He could have said "lets keep talking" rather than taking to twitter and running his pie-hole. The Giants offered more money than the Rams did initially, and more than anyone else was willing to give him. And Jenkins had an inconsistent track record other than his last season in STL. I'm OK with them probably getting this one wrong, but keep in mind they had several guys to work into deals and not a ton of space.

I'm with you on Quinn. I'm afraid he isn't ever going to be the player he was for that 2 year run. Backs are tricky things and having surgery can often make a guy just a step slower, or a little less flexible..........not to mention how long does it take to get back to real full strength. I hope for the best but I'm not sure we will see elite performance out of him again. I hope I'm wrong.

FYI on the burn rate stat.......I agree, that's senseless.

while I agree, and always advocated for, that jenkins should have been kept over tru, we dont know what went down behind closed doors. maybe they felt they wouldnt be able to keep Jenkins long term even if they tagged him, so took the less risker option and tagged Tru.

One thing to remember here too is scheme. Some CBs perform a lot better when they know they have safety support over the top consistently. If you took Richard Sherman and put him in this defense he'd be effin BBQd.

All that aside I think Gaines will improve. Just disappointing that his poor season coincides with Jenks killin it in the more disciplined and conservative Giants' defense.

knew we should have kept JJ - we've missed his contribution this year

If the Rams had tagged Jenks, he would have had an attitude and lost focus at the worst times. Doesnt mean I dont wish the Rams could have found a way to keep Jenks and Tru.

I wonder what his burn rate was when he was in horns?

He cost us games last year.

In hindsight, he cost us games last year.

Have we all forgotten that?

We all knew JJ was better than EJ right? Hell, most knew JJ was better than Tru....Just on the fact he doesn't get injured as much
A lot of people were saying Tru was better yes he's had better #s but he wasn't covering best player most of times... Then were giving him major credit for covering Megatron when he really would have gotten torched if Stafford was accurate... But this was more of rams undervaluing Jenkins.. He said after they lowballed him during season he knew he wasn't going back.. Tru is OK as a #2 and after injuries Gaines has regressed

When did he cost us games last year? Jenkins had his best season last year and people attributed it to a contract year instead of him progressing as a player

It's another case of Fishers inability to judge talent, develop talent, or find talent that's applicable to his scheme. Yes he got Aaron Donald & Ogletree.... But he misses way more than most. I'm convinced he has no idea at all what to look for in a WR

And that has a lot to do with this thread. Thanks. WTH? He drafted the guy and his staff developed the guy. I forgot though that JJ was a WR.

Against the Whiners he cost us the game. Boldin practically ran him over to score the go ahead. JJ was swiping at the ball and just fell down. It was bad.

Unfortunately we can't tell, he may have gone the other way and played lights out in horns...

It's depressing when we develop so many good players that we just can't find a way of keeping them...

It's hard to say how Sherman would do in our scheme. But he wouldn't get barbecued. He also doesn't usually have the safety over the top of him in Seattle's scheme. Although, he does have certain advantages on most plays that we wouldn't give him.(aside from the refs overlooking penalties)

This. Jenkins was our best CB last year. The narrative that he was out there blowing games isn't believable.

JJ admitted it himself. He said at times he would lose concentration and take plays off or something like that. Those bad plays were often game changing. He needed to focus all the time.

It is interesting that with a more disciplined coach he suddenly is performing like the best corner in football. Fisher and his lax approach is great for reducing injuries in the summer but 'Come on Man!" Start acting like your in charge instead of everyone's buddy!
