Attacking the base 3-4 on first down would be tough enough.

But 2nd and long vs the nickel with a secondary of Peters, Talib, NRC, Joyner, and Johnson? C’mon...

The dime gets even worse for the QB. Add Shields to the above in the secondary when it’s 2nd or 3rd and long and your team is trailing? Maybe by 2-3 scores?

On paper, this Wade D is an embarrassment of riches. I’m expecting really big things from this Wade D this year. And I don’t think that I’m gonna be disappointed, either. Lol.

It's all theoretical right now still...Every once in a while, it sinks in how off the hook this team can be. IF our OLB's can be just "good," our defense will be winning games for us. Imagine giving McVay's 40 minutes of a 60 minute game, my God, it will be a bloodbath against our opponents.

Let's see how the Rams stop the run first. That was a major issue last year and if this unit can prove their ability to stop the run, then I want to see how the likes of Ebukam & Longacre can pressure the opposing signal caller.

Agreed, our offense gave the run defense a lot of breathing room when putting points on the board. Having a good pass defense helps tremendously when you have a comfortable lead.

Geez, I’d hate to be a DC going against this Rams O...

Opposing HC: Okay, here's what we're going to do. We're going to stop the run, and change the play after fifteen seconds because of the McVay/Goff factor. Young quarterback, depending on his running back? Easy.

Opposing DC: Um, are you sure that's going to work?

Opposing HC: Of course it'll work!

(One long Brandin Cooks touchdown later...)

Opposing HC: What the fuck, man?! I thought you had a plan to stop Goff!

Opposing DC: -sighs- This is going to be a long day...

As much as I am excited to see what this team can do in all three phases of the game, I think it’s important to be patient the first four games or so bc it’s going to take time for all these players, especially on D, to gel and get communication in live games, down. It happened here in New England last year or two years ago if I remember correctly, where patsies took some time for the continuity and consecutive great performances to happen after they “loaded up”.

Naw, we need to remember...

Or let's just throw the football instead:
