You saying the whole city would revolt? Cersei and Tommen gave the Faith Militant the power that they have. They can take it away. I'd send in the Mountain and let him kill them all and then put him down and claim that the Lannisters killed the demon!

Not really. Who are the people going to be more likely to fight for: the guys who are literally giving them the shoes off their feet or the king whom everyone feels is an abomination and the Queen Regent whom everyone believes has been screwing her brother?

And they can't take away the power anymore. Cersei's locked up in prison (and will be going for a little walk sooner rather than later), and Tommen is a weak king who can't do anything to save his queen or her brother. The Faith Militant have every person in King's Landing on their side, save for the ones in power, and they aren't going to be in power for long. Cue the French Revolution...GoT style.

On a different note, I worry a lot about who is best for Westeros as a king.

Tommen isn't even close to being an option with sycophants like Pycelle and Qyburn at his side. And him taking advice from his mother automatically makes him the least attractive option.

Stannis is too harsh and unyielding to be an effective king, and he's fighting the Boltons right now and losing a ton of men because of the winter - and he also has to fight Euron Greyjoy whenever he comes into the picture. And then he has to try to capture King's Landing again. And after all of that, he's going to have massive problems with the Iron Bank. Great military mind and will be very helpful in the war against the White Walkers, but a very poor king.

Daenerys has made far too many mistakes to be a ruler that I'd trust (banishing Jorah for a crime that he was truly remorseful for, executing Mossador - another strong ally - for a crime that was very understandable, and locking up the other two dragons for Drogon's crime being the prime reasons). That's not even mentioning the fact that she's never even been in Westeros. How can she rule a large country like Westeros if she doesn't even know what it's like?

If I had to pick anyone right now...it would probably be Stannis, but in the long run...I don't see any good options on the horizon.

Tyrian!!!!!!
If he ever gets a massive army that is....

Stannis looks like best bet for now. Agree with your assessment of them all. Id throw Euron in the pot as well, but dont think he will have enough manpower to win.

There is also Littlefinger.....I think he actually does become King at some point, but it is short lived.

I agree. They are really milking it.

Yea. Though apparently from the books folks I've read, these two, basically middle books from Martin, were him milking it as well. So I guess it was to be expected if you read em.

Still doesn't change anything.

Too much boring Cersei, Danny, and Whiny Kings.

Not enough Bronn, Arya kicking ass, Tyrion, and Varys.

I miss The Hound so much.

Same here. Hell, I miss Hodor, the kid and the wench on the road. But mostly the wolf, - although it finally showed up.
And I know I'm an old guy, but just not into the zombies.

Glad to hear that about the books - read the first two, (and thoroughly enjoyed 'em), but then a bud gave me the first three seasons on disc, and I never continued on with the books.

I thought Episode 8 was kick ass..usually those things happen in episode 9 or 10...

The look on the white walkers face when Snows Valyrian steel sword didnt break was almost as good as the look on Jon Snows face

The back and forth banter between Tyrion and Danyrios was a well choreographed dance

Season 5 has been a meh disappointment thus far.

Agreed.

Too much boring Cersei, Danny, and Whiny Kings.

Not enough Bronn, Arya kicking ass, Tyrion, and Varys.

I've always found the Daenerys storyline boring. Don't know if it's the actress, the writing, or both. The Ramsay abusing Theon/Reek thing is getting old as well. The most interesting characters are Tyrion, Jaime(the two-handed version) and Varys in that order. I miss Joffrey and Yara Greyjoy. Podrick is a hoot too.

I agree this season has been meh for the most part, but that last episode was brilliant. Wow. Maybe the best episode of GoT that I can remember....

Yeah it was.

And is it just me, or shouldn't they just build an enormous obsidian sword and give it to that giant wildling?

It is getting interesting now. I agree with @Prime Time that the Daenyrus storyline is boring. Although I didn't think it started out that way. It has certainly bogged down a bit.

I do miss the Hound. He was perhaps my favorite character. I could use more Bronn and Jamie as well. The whole white walker storyline is a bit confusing for me. They seem a bit unstoppable and it could only lead up to some crazy triumph like they head in the third 'Lord of the Rings' movie when the ghosts showed up and killed the Orcs. I never really liked that sort of sweeping, left field sort of answer to the insurmountable situation.

And what ever happened to Bran and his magical powers? Is he going to be able to fend off these whitewalkers? Will he be able to control them somehow?

I still say that Ceirce's sorcerer friend just needs to set the Mountain up in front of that monastery or whatever it is and flip the on switch. A zombie form of the Mountain Clegane would roll through that bunch of armorless, barefooted fanatics like fire through a trail of gasoline.

A question for you book readers here. Do we ever get an explanation, concerning the Whitewalkers? Who/what are they? Where do they come from? Do they serve a god/being/demon etc..

No explanation on them. Although, we do get a little bit on the Night's King.

Bran isn't going to be back until next season. They're skipping him entirely this season so they can catch up on everything else.

Yeah it was.

Did you see what he did when the Night's King lifted his arms up? Methinks you need your own monster with the ability to make cool shit happen...

Clearly the counter to the Night's King.

No doubt. A super nerd at my work mentioned that the sword was made with valyrian steel and that the only way to forge that shiz is with dragons fire or something. That may give us clues to how this ends...

I was disappointed that the Wildling woman who put her kids on the boat was killed. They need some new 'hot' flesh on that show. There really aren't many hotties on anymore. Maybe I have just gotten too used to them all. I don't even think Daenyrus is that great anymore and I really liked her in the beginning. Sansa and Arya are not my cup of tea. Ditto for Cierce and even the Tyrell girl (Marjory?)

The only ones that are interesting right now are that Girl in the prison in Dorn that has the hots for Bronn and ..........well. She may be it.
