Idk if he is our best WR, but agree with everything else.
Because he looks great in shorts and tee shirts. Once they get further into camp he tends to get lost in the shuffle. He may not be our best receiver, but he's definitely our best pass catcher. Two career drops. Dude needs to be an almost every down threat IMHO. At this point, I don't get why it's not his job to lose.

I agree he has the most consistent pair of hands, but he just lacks some of the things it takes to be consistent. IMO he is still the 4th best receiver of the group. He will have his role but if he is starting then there are issues somewhere.
He is the Ricky Proehl of the GSOT comparison. The go to guy in 3rd down to move the chains. But not good enough to be an every down guy. This team is so much better if Quick and Britt are the every down guys. With Austin and Bailey as the "specialists".
Know anyone with a spotting scope? I use one at the rifle range all the time. That would be ideal for zeroing in on specific players as they generally have pretty good sized objective lenses that keep everything bright at higher magnifications and give you a decent sized field of view. It would allow you also to zoom in to pick out certain players, then zoom out to see the entire play. With mine you could probably read the coaches and players lips at that distance. Just a thought.

I guess the issue I have with him, in watching him in traininc camp these past two years, it was the lack of consistency he demonstrated. He would flash one day, and be the best receiver on the field, then disappear for the next week.Certainly looked good on the field during the second half of the season.
He's more than Ricky Proehl. If the Rams are smart, they'll feature him in the slot this year.

I will be the first to say, he has the ability to make the highlight reel catch, but so did Brandon Gibson. And I don't think many ever accepted him as a true starting caliber WR while he was here either. I don't dislike Bailey, I just don't think he is as good as many in here seem to.
As to him being featured in the slot, I would venture to say, that I don't see that happening. I just don't see them being in many 4 wide sets, and IMO, Cook will be the "slot" guy more than anyone. Obviously, there will be instances, and packages where they use the traditional 3 WR sets, but based on all the commentary coming from Fisher and Cignetti, they are going to make a concerted effort to get Austin more involved. Hence, my referring to Bailey as the 4th WR at this point.
He's no where in either on those class as for as speed and consistency. Look I like him too, just don't think he is "special".Cook should be the TE. Not the slot guy. I get that in two TE sets, he'll be used as a move TE and we'll use quite a bit of those with our run focus. But when we're on passing downs, Cook should be at TE with Bailey in the slot. Unless Austin comes out and proves he deserves that spot.
It's not just about highlight reel catches (and his reliable hands). It's about Bailey's ability to separate with his routes and create yardage after the catch. He has Golden Taint/Kendall Wright type talent imo.
And the Rams should make use of that.
