Maybe there's more to the picture here, but this is a really poor showing of character by Fisher. Promotes a guy who was in way over his head, and then fires him for underachieving? Cmon man.
Now I'm no fan of Cignetti and never liked the hire, but this just reeks of low class
On a side note, with all the love thrown at Cook around here, promoting the TE coach should be an easy peasy sell...

Austin, the best runner on the team, is a meh? 7 YPC against Arizona, well below his 9.1 average, but still damn good, and he's a meh? Against the Bengals he averaged 15.75 YPC to Gurley's 2 YPC, and he's a meh? OK.
Maybe you should consider that Austin's burst speed and elusiveness is why he can Rush where Gurley can't behind that terrible o-line. Every time they have upped TA's touches this season, he's produced solid numbers.

One thing is for sure. I'm going to be furious that this move wasn't made about 3 weeks earlier if we happen to start averaging like 24 ppg and 50% on third downs.
I've always thought of Fisher as classless... but you may have already known that. 
Telling Davis he was going to be the starter for the remainder of the season... no question about it... then, dropping him like a bad habit (and winking)... nice. He fooled a lot of fans for a long time.

Yeah... I was thinking this too... our tight ends are the envy of the league. Its a wonder Boras wasn't promoted over Cignetti in the first place.

Tavon is having those numbers because of the element of surprise may be. At 20 touches there is no element of surprise? But I agree they should stick with it until the defenses stop them.

Good. He might well be a scapegoat. Nevertheless, he was not the answer long-term and so a change needed to be made. Might as well do it now. Hopefully, this plays out like it did when we fired Tim Walton and we manage to get a big-name OC this off-season. If we can do that, and Fisher gives our new OC a fair bit of autonomy, I'd actually be fine with Fisher sticking around for one more year to prove he can get this team over the hump. If we stick with Boras going forward I'll be pissed.
Cigs was dealt a poor hand (horrible offensive line + worst QB in the NFL) but he was awful even considering the circumstances. This team still has Gurley and Austin. Both those guys are game-breaking talents on offense. They should also help open up the passing game. Britt is a solid WR even though he isn't a #1. Wes Welker has made an entire of career of getting open for the easy short-to-intermediate throws. You couldn't find a way to get the ball in his hands to pick up some yards?! Cook is an enigma. But he can get you some yards too. Look at his numbers before Cigs' arrived. Far below his pay grade, yes, but not bad totals in the abstract. Then you have Quick. He has shown flashes - it's an OC's job to tap into that kind of potential. The Rams are bad offensively but this group should not be posting numbers that are record-breakingly bad. Cigs needed to be fired. Accountability.
These are the Rams point totals the last four games: 13, 13, 7, 3. That is just awful. Our losses to Pittsburgh (10 points scored) and Washington (6 point scored) were also pathetic offensively. You know how many times our offence has scored 20+ points in a game this year? 3 times! At this point our defence and special teams are more likely to score. Good riddance.

Glad this happened before the offseason. Maybe this will set the table for a real OC hire and Fisher will remove his fingerprints from the offense.

Stating with WR Coach Jeff Garcia, The WR's are a joke, can catch a ball when it hits them in the hands, Jump for it when they don't need to, don't when they should!! and can't come down in bounds to save their ass!! Garcia, the Best WR Coach around, no one can do what he's done for our WR Corps!!

The lack of offensive development has really stunted this team. Plenty of blame to go around. But the neglect of developing any offensive lineman in four years has really hurt this team. I like the Gurley pick. I like Havenstein. He seems like a keeper. I like Brown as well, but the injury will slow his development. I like Marquez. Plays hard and seems to flash. It sucks because this is a playoff defense in my opinion. Oh, well.

His experience has been predominantly on the defenseive side of the ball though, no?
Yeah, well when that move was made IIRC Gregg Williams was lined up and the season was over. Not sure what to make of this.
Maybe now would be a good time to bring in Whisenhunt in the "consultant" role

This staff had it's chance, it's not getting done and now we're promoting people who are a part of how bad this staff is and it's supposed to get better? Nah man nah.
