Enter Ty Simpson.

Might not be All-World, but he's mobile and would probably be the QB for the majority of a potential next deal for Puka.
I buy it/get your point.

Still. Im not fuckin around.

Nacua gets the JSN, or if its next year, the "going rate" Contract.

You wanna be like the Giants with Saquon, and watch Puka go to Seattle or SF and kill us for years???

Watching Kupp hurt us and win a Super Bowl for our blood rivals wasnt enough???

As long as the Rams kept winning, I wouldn't care.

And I don't believe the Giants fans would either if they were winning.

It would be interesting to see what kind of TEAM Seattle could field with $85 million per going to just two WRs, though.

Puka will be to the 2026 thru 2028 Rams what Kupp was to the 2021 Rams. You comfortable letting that go?

He is, by ALL measures a Top 5 Wide Receiver in the League (and probably higher) Why are you letting him walk, in theory?

I'm sure Rams put serious discussions with agents on hold until they knew exactly what would happen with Garrett since they've been working that angle for over a month. I doubt it would stop them from planning for the future internally. I'd bet a few of those names are signed by end of September.
That’s what I thought. First set of business is getting this deal done and it impacts the cap going forward. Now that this is done, and Stafford deal, Snead can now focus on deals going forward knowing the cap hit of this big deal.

For that to happen, the Stafford / Simpson would have to lock on to him like he did to the 2021 Kupp. And we've got to admit that while great WRs, both of them enjoy(ed) quite a bit of their success being schemed open.

I'd love for the team to keep Puka. I just think it's crazy to give any WR $42 plus million per year when they play one of the easier positions to replace. Especially when some success can come from being schemed open.

You don't need a top 5 WR to have a good offense. Just good WRs on the same page with a good QB, a good scheme, a good rushing attack and OLine.

You don't need a top 5 WR to have a good offense. Take the Lions, for example. Amon-St Brown isn't a top 5 WR and the Lions have had good offense for years now.
So by the same token, Seattle would be better served letting JSN walk?

If Nacua was TRULY a diva I'd agree with your take.

Truly believe he's a team-first, dedicated-to-his-craft, mensch.

Only exception would be, like I said, team intel that says he's a degenerate or head case or something. Not there yet.

It depends upon their plan afterwards. Could he have been traded and replaced by another young talent?

Let's see what they do now that he's gotten his big deal.

But, to date, I'm still struggling to find any Super Bowl rings on WRs after signing a monster contract like JSN's.

I think a couple of those guys will be cap casualties but I also think Fowler is talking the wrong way out of his ass.
How many times does the media fret about the rams signing only to see it get done. I think training camp we will see some extensions and like last year a couple during the season. The Rams work to their own time line. They have great communication with the players, so unless there is a similar issue like with Jones, I will just relax and watch what happens.

Yup! Correct me if I'm wrong but a lot of our big extensions have been in the first couple weeks of actual training camp not OTA's.

But that's not what he said.

All he is saying is that they haven't re-signed any of the young stars yet.
Instead they made a big swing for Garret now. Today.

That's all he's saying.

And Fowler has been one of the most credible reporters I've posted here for Rams news.
Thats all he said? It is how he says it. "Interesting, they are taking big swings instead of paying young stars." That a true statement formed into an accusation. That is a stereotypical reporter statement. Ment to stir it up. Kind of a Florio type comment.

I'm not diggin' the Nacua non-extension talk. This guy is the BEST WIDE RECEIVER IN FOOTBALL. Makes the BEST CATCHES I'VE EVER SEEN in Football. Unless his off-field stuff and personal life is SO egregious that the Rams know and we dont, Nacua is a MUST sign.

Hall-Of-Fame talent.
And who have you heard the talk from.

If Florio said it I'd better see your point. But, Fowler hasn't been that way trying to stir the pot. He's just provided scoops. I think we are being too sensitive.

This came up in the other thread... but other than Turner all these players have something to prove this season first (well maybe not Young).

- Rams seem to want to see if Avila can overcome some of the bumps and bruises that keep him out at various times in his career while becoming more consistent overall. Interesting that Fowler didn't mention Dotson which I believe the Rams would prefer to lock up anyways.

- Nacua needs to show some maturity this year so makes sense we're not pursuing anything now.

- Turner and Young. Both would be great players to retain but I'd argue that bringing in Garrett makes keeping them less important going forward. Of the two, I'd love to resign Turner but neither is a must have necessity with a generational talent like Garrett. In fact, Rams could look to draft/craft/sign a defensive line with a similar build to when we had Donald going forward with low draft picks and veteran journeyman signings that compliment a true star player.

Part of the issue is, we throw around the word "stars" too liberally. Out of those players named, only Puka is a star. With his off field troubles, he probably delayed any extension he was going to get.

The others are wonderful players but wouldn't say their stars, and certainly not a super star like Garrett.

One thing for sure. Despite the off field issues they cannot let Puka walk. Use the franchise tag if they need more time to be sure those issues are not a problem now. He's basically a good kid. Not an attitude problem like some others around the league.
