I honestly don’t know why Thomas is even in the discussion. He dropped his first pass in preseason, right in his hands. Hope he gets dealt.
And I'll never forget the wide open bomb Thomas dropped from Goff back in 2016 up in Seattle. The first game after Fisher was fired. I remember because I was trying to get my wife into football at the time and she just laughed at how inept the Rams were.

Thomas has issues. :palm:

It would only be for 1 season, where are you getting 3 from?

Exclusive rights free agent (ERFA): Any player with fewer than three accrued seasons and an expired contract. If his original team offers him a one-year contract and the league minimum (based on his credited seasons), the player cannot negotiate with other teams.

That's what I was wondering. You can only be a rfa once.

He was wide open but Goff didn't get enough distance on it so the db caught up to Thomas just about. He had catching issues as a rookie so he heard footsteps and this probably put him off.

This is not that hard. An UFA can sign anywhere. If you want him you have to outbid another team.

An Exclusive Rights FA can not negotiate with another team. So it's up to the Rams if they want him.

So they "control" the player. If they don't want him then they let him walk.

Even in yr 3 as a restricted FA, they have more control than if he is an unrestricted FA.

Most players are in this situation as most players sign one yr deals who are in Hodges position as a back of the roster player. It is not a unique situation.

Key phrase...."the player cannot negotiate with other teams."

Thomas will be a UFA.. Hodge will be restricted for the next 3 yrs. It's a huge difference.

Yeah, I get all of that. What still don't get is where he'll be restricted for 3 years if they only offer him a 1 year contract. Can they offer him a 3 year contract as an ERFA or is it only 1? Again where are you getting 3 years from? There's nothing hard about saying where you get 3 from but somehow you avoided that to explain something I didn't ask about.

And so is one year. Which is the point. 3 years might be a huge difference, but 1 isn't.

He can't go anywhere if the Rams want to keep him...

Thomas can go anywhere he wants next year .. the Rams have no say.

EXACTLY!!!

Like in baseball it's all about team control. Your contract might be up, but if you can't reach FA and instead can only go to arbitration, you are still under team control.

I thought it was me... Maybe I was going crazy.

I would prefer that they not have a return specialist. There's too much talent on this roster to be cutting really good position players.
He probably means the first attempt against the cowboys. Doesn't matter that he caught the next three in a row.

Some people have their biases and that's that, their minds can't be changed.

.

I did - and that’s a fair assessment (of my take).
I know he’s great on ST, and and and, he just seems to be a “yeah, but” guy.

If we were not so loaded at WR, and his 5th year wasn’t coming up, I’d like him a lot more. He is talented, just seems to miss when he should not.
