Maybe Campbell will be more of the type of coach that Goff needs. An emotional, encouraging style may fit Jared’s personality better and bring the best out of him. Everybody is built a little differently. People don’t always mesh. McVay seems to like a certain make-up similar to his own. Maybe Jared’s style made for a difficult working relationship.

That is very possible

It appeared that Goff struggled mightily in quite a few games after the Miami game last year.

Talent is great but confidence is even better. Bad losses and public humiliation can crush confidence. And sometimes a confusing message can stifle a way out.

"Don't turn the ball over....protect the ball....stop giving it up"
"He doesn't throw downfield enough.....reluctant to go for it when it's tight"

A 12 year vet might say, "yeah, okay coach" knowing 'if you want me to take those chances, you gotta accept when it doesn't work out'.
A 5 year vet maybe not so much. May be reluctant to take a chance when a turnover could set his HC off. Isn't there a saying like, "when you're thinking too much, you're not playing your best"? If there isn't, there should be.

Hey, whatever. We now have the 12 year vet and I like what I see. Except when he resembles a 5th year guy. But when it does work out, it's pretty and we win.

Didnt see any of the game, at Universal with the family, but was checking scores/stats intermittently and saw that Goff was off to an impressive start. I thought they were finally opening things up and that it was about time. Then I saw his stats remaining the same while the score flipped, assuming he went in to prevent mode again, and almost lost them another game. Really pumped for Goff and the team to get that monkey off their back and if anyone saw the post game stuff, incredible class on the parts of Campbell and Goff talking about the HS victims
In the first half, they ran an offense like McVay's. Went under center, ran the ball, and used play action off of it. Goff was feasting in the intermediate range. In the second half, they decided to spread the field and play out of the shotgun for whatever nonsensical reason. Unsurprisingly, with the Lions' terrible WRs, it didn't work. They also were tipping run and pass based on how the OL lined up, so the play action out of the shotgun wasn't working.

Late in the game, they went back to what was working, looked unstoppable driving the field, and then inexplicably abandoned it again for a shotgun, spread-them-out style. Goff ended up throwing a bad INT. That decision was on him. But I was baffled by Campbell abandoning again what was working. I hope he watches the film and comes to understand what they need to do to play to Goff's strengths and minimize his weaknesses along with the weaknesses of their offense (absolutely terrible WR talent).

Anyone can say what they want about Jared Goff. But he's living every man's dream.

A starting QB in the NFL. A multi millionaire. A (super) hot model girl friend.
Not saying I am envious but just in case the Devil is a ROD member, I would give my soul for the above.

I'm glad that Brockers, Goff, Reynolds, and Brad Holmes (we seem to forget Brad Holmes, but the man was an amazing head scout for us, and he deserves our respect for helping to build this franchise.) got their first win with the Lions. I have absolutely nothing against Lions fans; they've stuck with their team through the lowest of lows, and I'm glad that they got rewarded for their undying patience. Cleveland, move the fuck over.

Watched that last Lion drive on my tablet.

A "Montana in his prime" like performance by Goff.

Glad to see some former Rams celebrate a long sought after win.

Kind of funny how we all talk about the Lions being bad and they really are. But the Falcons? They're a 5 win team with a worse point differential than the Lions by 3 points. Four more wins and a worse point differential, kind of funny nobody talks about the 5 win Falcons being just as bad.

The Lions finally won a game. Goff threw the winning TD pass with like 2 seconds left on the clock. He looked like the 2018 version of himself. He threw 3 TD passes. Reynolds is blossoming in Detroit where he and Hockenson are the primary receiving threats. I'm glad for both guys. If Goff had a better OL in front of him they would win some games.

Holmes has the draft picks to shore up the OL, WR, and defense over the next 2 drafts.

Goff might not be a Ram anymore (And, I don’t think that decision was his choice) but I am still very happy for him!!

Zimmer should be fired for gross negligence for the way played his defense on that last drive by the Lions.
Heh.... the only time he blitzed Goff he panicked and was almost picked. The rest of the 12 plays he sat back and got picked apart.
I guess he is a charter member of the Raheem Morris School of Defensive Excellence or something.

I'm happy for Goff and my friends that are Lions fans. No problem with stating that here.

I was happier for the Whiner fans. ;-).
