Well, there's this little nugget in his contract, (Per sportrac)
  • 2022 salary fully guarantees 2/18/2022, voids with retirement
So is his 2022 salary guaranteed? Or did the contract void?
Bucs also take a 23 mill dead cap in 2023 whether he plays for them or not

I’d like to add Rich Eisen to the list of people in the media I am tired of! If you take the time to listen to him you’ll notice his arrogance thinly veiled in his commentary. Guys a douché canoe in my opinion.

Trade his ass to the 49ers. We'll knock his ass back into fuckin retirement again.
Yes. Come out of retirement to play against your old buddies Aaron Donald and Von Miller twice a year. And coming for you in the playoffs.

There's a reason Russell Wilson wanted out of the NFC West. He was afraid for his post football life.

Florio (who molests collies, by the way) apparently does not understand that the Bucs don't have to let Brady go without compensation, and the 49ers don't have a first round pick to trade. His theory, that the Bucs will ignore all that and just let Tom Brady go to an NFC rival without compensation because he calls up the owner and says "please," is beyond asinine.
Florio once again demonstrating why he deserves every ounce of disrespect that he gets from sports fans.

Non-issue?

Brady can play the "am I retired or not" card until June 2nd and cost Tampa a pretty penny.
I struggle to believe that a player can retire and fuck over a team's cap. Seems wrong and would be really dumb for the league to structure it that way. I think it's a non-issue.

Brady has the cards here. He tells them, look, I can retire and leave a huge hole at qb that probably won't get filled, while you pay me, orrr, you can trade me and my contract to San Fran for Jimmy g and a 2nd round pick. What else can tampa do but except that offer. They should be grateful for a trade. Where are they getting a better option than Jimmy while unloading Bradys contract and getting a high draft pick. If Brady stays retired and they have to figure out their qb situation, they aren't getting to another nfc championship game anytime soon.

I dunno. This makes some sense. Its a little wild, but this league is whack.
