Are you talking about the 1st game Jim Everett played, when the stadium was screaming "Everett" over and over again, and went nuts when he entered the game? If so, that's one of my most memorable Rams games to have been at.Still remember that terrible last second Hail Mary loss to the pats
Watching ED highlights made me realize how much he could dish it out. Tough as nails.I enjoyed the games at the Big A. Still remember that terrible last second Hail Mary loss to the pats and the thrilling games against the niners. Seeing Marino throwing fastballs all over the field was amazing. Watching the collisions between the Dick and Lott were really something to witness in person.
Wish I would have made the trip to see them there. I had to watch from afar. But that "Eagle Defense" was NEVER better than the 1989 WC game at Philly. Randall Cunningham in his prime. Keith Jackson at TE. Chris "All he does is catch touchdowns" Carter at WR. Keith Byers at RB. The Rams D stymied them all day. And it was a chilly, rainy day. Everett to Ellard, then Damone Johnson in the 1st, Greg Bell (124 on 27 att) had the final score in the 4th. 21-7 win. My die hard Eagle fan neighbor tried to come into my house at the half. He, his wife and 4 kids all in Eagle's gear. I shook my head and just said, "go home".Went to a bunch of games there, yes access was super easy as has been mentioned. We were up and down through that period. Everett, Bettis, KG and the Eagle defense come to mind.
Was that a preseason game? Here was the first actual regular season game. The opener after the Rams were unable to beat the Steelers in their first Superbowl the year before. Some observations in watching this throwback video:
- Drew Hill, later to be known more as the Oiler great, one of the main targets of Warren Moon, took the opening kickoff in this game through a cloud of dust in the Angels infield, and off to an exciting 98 yard touchdown! Great start!! ....until...
- Pat Haden @den-the-coach favorite player, inexplicably lined up under center rather than Vince-the-man-Ferragamo. Aaaand the rest is history. The blond lawn gnome delivered 3 gifts to the Lions that day, contributing to a 41-20 drubbing of our boys in blue and gold.
- Speaking of blue-and-gold, the Rams cheerleaders are seen on the sidelines wearing the WORST looking unis probably in their history. Take a gander, if you can stomach it. Embraceable Ewes? Try Embarrassing Ew.
- Frank Corral threw a little turd in the punchbowl after Hill's great kick return by kicking the successive extra-point up the ass of the deep snapper who was kind enough to deliver the ball in a timely fashion to holder Nolan Cromwell. Frank, you had one job. Actually he had two that year, as he also carried the punting duties. Pretty impressive, Frank. You sucked at BOTH jobs.
- After the Rams got out to a 20-10 lead, The midgets 3 interceptions, and the debut of the great Billy Sims, (153 yds 3 TDs) led to 31 unanswered Lion points and a terrible start to the Big A days.
- The Rams finally had enough of the Trojan Horse quarterback (See what I did there?) and placed Vincent Ferragamo behind center when it was too late, without much time on the clock the old #15 (Maybe in a few years we will enjoy seeing this number again!) at least moved the ball a bit. He started the rest of the season, and led the Rams to an 11-5 record.

Took me a minute to realize KG was Kevin Greene.Went to a bunch of games there, yes access was super easy as has been mentioned. We were up and down through that period. Everett, Bettis, KG and the Eagle defense come to mind.
Trying to find a picture of the 80s Rams cheerleader outfits with the diamond shaped cleavage cut outs. Too reveling the NFL said.
