There has been a lot of talk about the first 3 picks being 2 QBs and Harrison.

Currently Carolina Arizona and New England own the first three picks.

Carolina has Young from last years draft. Do they admit they made a mistake and draft Caleb or Maye or another QB that is getting high praise.

Arizona has Murray - do they move on?

New England definitely needs a QB.

Chicago has Carolina's pick, and they may well take a QB.

Arizona apparently want Harrison.

NE will take a QB.

As Londoner pointed-out, Chicago has the Panthers' first round draft choice but you also have to consider the potential VALUE of the pick.

There are 6-8 Teams that are going to REALLY WANT a Quarterback come late-April. If a team has a high #1 AND there is a highly-coveted-QB available, that pick becomes Hugely Valuable.

Say Williams goes to Chicago at #1, with Arizona picking at #2; and say Harrison is Universally Regarded as the best non-QB-prospect. Further assume, AZ wants to stick with Murray and absolutely loves Harrison.

Harrison is the The Obvious Pick!
Not So Fast!!!
Three teams drafting between 7-10 really WANT the 2nd-rated-QB ... whoever that may be. They each make offers; and are trying to out-bid the other two teams.

How does three #1s, including a pick high enough to get Arizona the 2nd best WR, and three #2s sound? Marvin Harrison better be Jerry Rice if the Cardinals are going to pass-up that type of haul.

Welp...I don't think any of us really know how the Cardinal brass feels about Murray. Are they done with the Murray experiment? I know Cardinal fans are DUN with him, even staunch supporters have been posting that he is not the answer. I don't think he was ever the answer and the Rams have shown the NFL how to beat him over the last few years and multiple HC's and OC's have not found a way to stop the Rams plan of containing him in the pocket and force the short QB to throw over tall lineman. But even though he's not the answer, trying to get better talent around him is how I would do it if I was GM. Yet who knows what that dumpster fire organization will end up doing....

Arizona could move on but they already have 2 high picks.
Cheaters definitely take a QB.

Who right after those could want to move up?
Chicago is also #4 so a LT? Edge? Another WR there could be a few in the top half of the draft there is some really good talent after Harrison.
Washington could stay put or move up a spot with Chicago at 4 to get a QB.
Giants should draft a QB but might not be able to afford moving on from Jones. Can you have a young guy with that contract start for a bit until a rookie is ready?
Tampa at 7 absolutely needs a QB and has a GM who will trade up IMO.
After that the Jets have Rodgers maybe Chargers have their QB and Titans took Levis last year after that it's going to take a lot to move into the top 5 to get a QB who knows if that happens.

One thing is for sure. Experts (and fans) are rarely correct about the draft in late November. What is the 1 position, if you could only pick 1, that the Rams need? And I'd bet right now, that isn't going to be the pick! :laugh2:

If every member of the forum picks a different position, someone will have to be right. :laugh2:

I'll get the ball rolling by saying LT.

If it means in the first round? I'll go ILB with RB a close second.

1. Chicago trades down for a record haul as Fields plays well enough down the stretch to inspire confidence from the organization
2. AZ may want to be done with Murray but the dead cap is too much for them to eat. They stand pat and take Harrison
3. NE RUNS to the podium to take a QB, likely Bo Nix

I also expect a big run on QBs this year which puts us in a fantastic position to get the #2 LT or Edge, the best OC/G (don’t know if they retain Dotson, they should, but the market may be too high for him) or a STUD RB

That’s my guess

I wonder if the Hoodie gets fired in New England after this season and if so, who succeeds him? Often the HC is fired if a team is dreadful enough to be picking that high in the draft. Also, what STUD RB are you thinking of? I think with having Matthew at QB, we need to stack quality Olinemen every year to protect him.

I think Arizona has no choice but to stick with Murray. They wouldn't have the advantage of a quarterback being on his rookie salary for a few years. They owe Murray a lot of money. Harrison makes the most sense to give Murray a weapon.

I'm pretty sure Chicago will pick a quarterback. Its possible Justin Fields is auditioning for another team this year. If they want get out of the basement they have to find another quarterback.

There is no doubt in New England. They need a quarterback badly. Mac Jones is backup caliber at best. Question is, how much longer does Belichick stick around? He'll be 72 next year. I doubt he's on the hot seat. He's a fixture there. But does he still have the fire in his belly?

Well the first hurdle in that theory is Fields playing well. I don't expect that so I'd think Chicago is going to go QB, maybe not with Carolina's pick but their own. Harrison should go off the board in the first 4-5 picks. LTs are always targets in the top half of the first round. Edge and CB also. I'm confident if we decide to actually use our first round pick....or a lower one should we trade down a few spots.....we're going to get a stud. And with their propensity for finding talent from the 3rd round on, we could see another draft like this last one. Good players, cheap is always a good starting point. My hope is Raheem gets a gig and we get an additional 3rd round pick. If we do trade down in the first we could end up with something like lower 1st, two 2nds and two 3rds. Plus a ton of picks in the Snead Field of Gems on day three.

Even though the Bears won their game recently, IMO, they are a mess and I would fire both Ryan Poles & Matt Eberflus, but I am betting Poles stays, although Poles should be fired for hiring Eberflus in the first place.

Bears will draft a QB and the Cardinals will take Marvin Harrison, Jr., because of the past success for Larry Fitzgerald and feeling that will make Murray better. Patriots will take a QB although they will have a new Head Coach & General Manager too IMHO. As it stands now, the first three picks will go this away.

1. Chicago Bears (from CAR)

Caleb Williams | QB | USC

2. Arizona Cardinals

Marvin Harrison Jr. | WR | Ohio State

3. New England Patriots

Drake Maye | QB | North Carolina

New Sherriff in town in New England and once the QB's go through all their combines, IMO, Mayne will be the 2nd QB off the board.

One could argue that the Panthers could have waited and avoided the costly trade up for Young. Then, in this 2024 draft they would be in position to take Maye. Homestate QB would be big with the fans.

Chicago should take a top QB. Fields is not going to lead that team to a Super Bowl. Trading back would be an option. I think if they stick with Fields then they will want Harrison Jr. They may be like many Bears fans and convincing themselves that Fields just needs more talented weapons. With Fields, that would be a wasted career for Marvin. If the Cards and Bears both want Marvin Harrison, then the Bears are stuck and can’t trade back with that first pick. A trade back could get them a lot to work within picks.

Arizona is stuck with Murray, and I love it. So I could see them going many ways.

Yeah Fields can be tagged and flipped if he turns it on. If not it doesn't matter. If I'm in that GM's shoes I take QB with one of those two first round picks and use Fields as a bridge for next year while the rook redshirts. Just comes down to which one they like but when it comes to QBs you gotta be careful. By way of example if they like the LSU kid then you might want to just take him at 1 even if people yell reach. Never know what teams have guys ranked which way, so much of QB is a dice roll, so take the one you like if he's there.

Also I expect a guy like Fields will play a ton better next year, it being a FA season and all. And a kid behind him who has great natural game would push him even more.

I imagine ATL, Vikings or the Giants would love to throw a 2nd round pick at Fields.

You never know what Wash will do much like the Cards, They remind me a little of Detroit a couple years ago with some nice pieces in place. They have some youth on Offense in Dotson and Robinson. They could use help in the secondary and on the Oline. I think Howell shows too much promise to take a QB (but what do I know) when they can continue to build around a pretty promising young offense. They are Wash so who know but I would build for now until Howell fails. They could have had Cousins all this time and may have realized they possibly made a mistake, love or hate Cousins he is a good QB and I wouldn't risk a repeat mistake. They will have some great choices at 5 with top CB, maybe TE and a top OT on the board.

Washington don't have Brad in the front office. They'll fuck it up.
