I think the ship has sailed for corner, barring the Dolphins eating some of that salary. Rams booted Ramsey's ass out of LA due to salary vs what he offers on the field, as they always do with any player who they know will have problems living up to what they're being paid. So it makes no sense for them to go back to that with him unless he comes in at a discount.

Swing OT is the one spot I think a move will happen. If they wait too long the remaining options will get snapped up but if I were Les I'd bring one in soon, before that happens.

If they kicked him to the curb, like you suggest then why would Snead and McVay admit to talking about possibly trading for him now? You make it sound like they couldn’t wait to be rid of him. Strange take.

More than likely he will cost too much for their liking. But you kept saying yourself last summer that the secondary was the teams weakness. You don’t think he upgrades it?

My other concern is safety. I am having a morning fogg and can't remember who is behind Curl and Kinchens at safety.

McCullough was good. Lake is very good. Kinchens was very good.

That’s not to say that adding Ramsey in the mix wouldn’t be an upgrade.

Really not a big believer in a shut down corner. The days of a corner traveling to matchup with the other teams best receiver are long over. I like our secondary, especially the safeties. Kinchens, lake, and Curl give us a deep safety room. We have a good enough group of Corners headed by Williams and Witherspoon.

And it's not just McVay who said they never would have had to trade Ramsey if it wasn't for the cap. Both Snead and Demoff essentially stated the same thing. They borrowed a lot against the cap when they went all in and in the same time period made some big cap mistakes such as Allen Robinson. The credit card bill came due.

That said, there is a connection between performance and cap moves. They chose to move Ramsey rather than Stafford, AD, or Kupp because either his performance was the worst out of the big 4 or they deemed him as playing the least important position.

In regards to Ramsey, fact is, no team is going to pay what Miami is asking for the going to be 32 year old CB. He's not the player he was, he's still good but whos to say his production wont go down even further next year. Father time is undefeated.

Two things will happen with Ramsey, he will either restructure his contract with Miami or he'll be cut. Rams are being smart they are playing the waiting game hoping he gets released and then they'll probably give him a reasonable offer.

When traded, the team who trades for the player assumes the contract as is and becomes responsible for any guaranteed money, current or upcoming, whether salary or bonus. The team who trades (or cuts) the player accelerates any dead money, be it void years, or prorated money from previous bonus payouts/restructures etc.
Ramsey has a near 19 mill guaranteed "option" bonus coming his way, along with salary that requires a team who trades for him to pay him some 20-22 mill. for 2025

id love to add another CB and a LT.
McClendon has had a couple of solid games at RT and seems like he would be ok there for a short term injury replacement.

Spotrac and OTC have been really frustrating with this "option" bonus thing because neither site reflects that payment in the cap number breakdown. It's making it hard to figure out what's really going on.

I believe that it is there on sportrac, and its great for Miami had they wanted him around, its terrible for Miami if they want rid of him. He'll make 25 mill in cash this season, while only hitting the cap for 16 mill.

Yep and he hasn't been that guy for a while now. He's still a decent corner and his run support is elite. But top corners don't get paid for matching up with second and third threats. They get paid for travelling with top threats.

Miami fucked up paying that dude. So it is important the Rams don't throw them a lifeline. Make those fucks pay a significant portion of the salary or we walk and sign his ass after you cut him. The need for the Rams with him is not that strong, we're in a good position to barter.

Miami cant afford to cut him or trade him. Probably will end up putting up with him until they can dump him at the trade deadline
