Rams-Panthers fracas draws slew of fines from NFL
Listen up, children: Fighting can be pricey.
A slew of players have been fined from Sunday's fracas between the Panthers and Rams, led by St. Louis pass rusher Chris Long, who was docked $15,750 by the NFL for throwing a punch in the Rams' 30-15 loss to Carolina, per NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.
Long was ejected for his role in a third-quarter scrum that involved Panthers receiver Steve Smith and saw the Rams defender showered with insults and debris as he made his way to the locker room:
The league also docked Panthers defensive back Mike Mitchell $7,875 for taunting after a hit on Sam Bradford that led to the quarterback tearing his ACL. Mitchell shoved Bradford out of bounds before puffing out his chest and raising his arms to the sky.
The league also docked Rams offensive lineman Harvey Dahl $7,875 for a late hit and receiver Brian Quick $7,875 for unnecessary roughness, per Rapoport. Smith also was billed $7,875 for an unnecessary roughness call.
