I got this from Jeff Howe on X (NFL writer for the Athletic). It is crazy to see that in 12 games we have played 8 playoff teams and 9 of 12 games have been against teams who currently have a winning record. Look at our record compared to the rest of the playoff teams:

Playoff seedings, including each team's record against current playoff teams:

AFC
1. Patriots 2-0
2. Broncos 1-2
3. Jaguars 2-2
4. Ravens 1-2
5. Chargers 1-2
6. Colts 2-1
7. Bills 2-2

NFC
1. Bears 1-1
2. Rams 6-2
3. Eagles 3-2
4. Bucs 2-4
5. Seahawks 1-3
6. Packers 0-1
7. 49ers 2-3

More positive reinforcement....for those who need it.......from ESPN....fans participation....definitely a Seattle fan.....

Question: From Andy: Everybody seemed to know the Rams were good until you put an aged QB out in a cold rain. We may see that Stafford again coming up Dec. 18.

Response: The Rams had an offensive success rate of 58% -- the 12th-best single-game performance of any game this season. They also had a 50% dropback success rate and a whopping 70% success rate on the ground. They didn't see a fourth down in the entire first half -- no punts, no field goal attempts, no fourth-down tries, nothing.

Three turnovers will spoil anyone's effective offensive day, but this game was not an alarm bell. Not by a long shot.

Seeing doom and gloom right now because of this game? Read the above piece.

Turnovers. If we had none, we would have won....easily. About 180 games played in the NFL so far this season and the Rams offense put up the 12th best performance Sunday, sans the turnovers? What the hell was it that fell on that famous character's head? A walnut?

That does make me feel a little better, although I'm still disappointed in our defensive effort/gameplan. Hopefully that was a fluke.

The Rams definitely stand out as the most impressive of the teams listed, with several teams below .500, 3 teams 1 game above .500 and one team 2 games above .500 ... with the Rams being a full 4 games above .500 in more games (8) against playoff teams than anyone else listed. All that bodes well if the Rams take care of business and don't cough up the ball like they did Sunday.

The defense getting manhandled in the run game and brain farting not once, not twice, but three times on long TD passes is what makes me lose sleep at night. I thought that shit was behind us.

Another excellent stat is point diff. We are at the top along with the hawks. We are beating good teams like the Bucs and whiners by multiple TD's.

Matt threw a bad pick-6. Panthers went up big.
Panthers were moving the ball well. Twice the Rams went for the stop on 4th and short.
Both times they got burned by a long ball. Those don't always work even when surprises.
Forbes was very close on 1, took a perfect pass. It happens. Happened with Adams last game.
Panthers played to win and were willing to take chances. Made the plays and pulled it off.
Tip of the hat to them.
-2 Turnovers, 2 long opponent TDs on 4th down, yet Rams still had a chance to win at the end.
Didn't happen. It's the NFL.

Win the NEXT game. Dont look ahead. We will be fine.

I've seen some criticism of McVay being pass happy when our running game was doing well. I like the aggressive mindset especially in light of the patient approach of the Panthers who were in grind it out mode, hoping for an upset.
We played well enough to win but for the turnovers. Those are not predictable and are game changers as we all know.
It was one of those games, never got far enough ahead to put it away or to go to a conservative approach, and never for enough behind to quit trying to be aggressive
Carolina came out with a great game plan and it worked for them. Kudos to them for a well executed game. For the Rams, nothing to be concerned about. It happens.

Full admission (as a lonnnngggg time Rams fan):
I like the Rams being a bit of an underdog. Never really comfortable with them being ranked number 1 across the board too early in the season…and it’s too fucking early in the season for that. I want them peaking week 1 of the postseason and I think they have a good chance to do that. Go Rams!!

These are all NFC teams. Did he mean top 5 in the NFC or is that true, top 5 in the NFL?
I got the impression from the follow-on replies, that it is an all NFL stat...

On the other hand - a few people thought it was just an NFC WEST stat !!! :laugh3:

If you follow the MORE link - it was noted that 8 of the top 10 are all NFC teams in each category!

Didn't follow the link. :eyeroll:
Why is that???
I am sort of a retired nerd - having worked in security and networking... but I don't see the issue.
OTOH, I use a Linux platform....

I followed it once - now I don't need to, as the information at the end of the page displays....

The fact that the panthers converted 4th down for a TD twice, the Rams D played possibly its worst game of the season and Stafford turned the ball over 3 times. I'm not concerned right now, but if the missed tackles and turnovers continue it will be time for concern.
