It’s interesting to think about. Would you rather be a coordinator and have a better chance to win rings or run your own show and try to build towards a ring of your own? I guess it depends on how much you believe in yourself. It does need to be the right job - but the Jets are going to have the #1 pick and that is a player to build around.

I hope he stays but I can’t blame him when he doesn’t. We may get one more year out of him.

Win a ring as a coordinator and the jobs only pile up more

Or your unit struggles and the window of opportunity closes. If you have a goal, and all of sudden it is there for the taking - it has to be really hard to turn it down. It’s like a kid who is going to be a top 3 pick in the draft going back to school. Doesn’t happen much.

Need to post this pic on fourth and short. Great edge integrity and coverage. Cam has nowhere to go. Excellent call by Staley.

Pay him near HC money. Kroenke has the pockets.
We already pay coaches very well and have more of them than most every team. I agree give the man what he wants but if he's going to be offered a job no amount of money will hold any good coach back from a shot at his own team.

is there enough money to keep someone a DC when someone is offering them a head coaching gig?

Maybe, but why are we recognizing his mindfulness in so many ways and yet Staley somehow knows less about how the Jets are where coaching careers go to die? That not all ownership is the same? That not all FOs can consistently put talent on the field?

Eric Bienemy, Byron Leftwich and Robert Saleh should get gigs.

What helps the few teams who'll focus on defense is that the 9ers won't make the playoffs and especially if we go deep, teams may not want to wait for Staley. As well, with us not having a bye, there won't be time to interview until after the Super Bowl, and in general it's the teams that need the most fixing that have the last jobs.

So, while our D is putting the focus on Staley and he's getting the added shine of being under McVay who's coaching tree is growing like a Brazilian Pepper Tree (it's actually a weed and grows like one), the D can keep him here by continuing to ball out.

I used to think I'd want to be "the guy". When I was working, I quickly realized that being the guy out front is no fun and you can't focus on what you want to focus on.

I'd love for Staley to stick around. LOVE IT. I dunno how possible that is, but I really hope it happens.

I don't want Staley to go anywhere. In fact I'd like for him and Mcvay to be a dynamic duo for years to come. However if he does take a HC job somewhere else I will appreciate what he's done for the Rams and wish him the best. Most likely ill remain a big fan of his.

The fashion in the NFL is to higher young offensive HC, not defensive. So there is nothing to worry about boys! Plus, I'm sure a great deal of Staley's success has something to do with the quality of personnel, which can't be replicated. There is only one AD. And there is only one JRamsey.

I hope and pray that Brandon Staley has similar feelings and success as Phil Parker (DC for Iowa). Year in and year out, has a top defense, has job offers all the time but is comfortable and in the right program for him so he remains around.
