How about when the cop asks for the registration instead of exposing a freakin' gun to the cop say, "Registration? I'm sorry officer, I don't have it in the vehicle like I know I should." Maybe the cop is cool and just runs your DL info and writes you a ticket. Maybe not... But when the cop sees the gun, you're freaked anyway...
Nothing against the man... sounds like a really nice guy... but...

Based on this... and the other events previously reported, I don't think he's quick enough to think that up on the fly.

See that's the other one.

1) Never to two illegal things at once.
2) Always prepare your lies in advance.
3) Try your hardest to never need the first two rules.

Okay, I'll admit it. I made up that last one.

I thought I would just excercise that theory only because EW has been falsely accused before.
Having a gun in California is inherently suspicious. Same in my state. If a cop sees a firearm in your car, he's going to have questions about it.

Plus, while the glove box may be where you see guns carried in movies, that's not legal in CA:

Under California law a concealed handgun can legally be transported with a motor vehicle without a permit only by carrying it:
I think the police officer in question had plenty of legal reason to raise an eyebrow at a firearm spotted in a glove compartment without being a '9ers fan.

Apparently the gun was in his glove box and the police saw it while he was searching for his registration.

Rookie mistake.

Rules of riding dirty:

1. Always keep contraband out of sight
2. Never keep contraband with your legal papers
3. Obey all traffic laws

Kids today are fucking stupid. Posting their misdeeds on social media for the world to see, not knowing the laws or their rights...getting tattoos on their face. Dumb.

You have rules 1 & 2 backwards. Always start with the lie, rule 3. Hope you dont need the lie

...I thought 'riding dirty' meant driving around with drugs, no?

Thats pretty damn typical for a gun to be. Even in movies.

Going out on a limb here was there anything else suspicious? I know this might sound far fetched but was the CHP officer a Raider or a 9ers fan?
In Stockton? The Officer was in all probability a 49er Fan! Whiner Fans are all over the place their!

My Opinion, wait until the courts settle things! It could end up a minor matter! But California is very Tough when it comes to Gun violations!!

Per McVay's press conference today, Westbrooks is on schedule to play this Sunday unless something changes.
McVay 's body language conveyed to me that "Westbrooks made some poor choices, but if what he's saying is true, there 's a reasonable chance that Westbrooks could emerge from this situation without serious consequences." Just my opinion of trying to read between the lines of McVay's comments.

Dave, it was Bakersfield. But you may be right anyway.
I'm absolutely sure it's that way in Bakersfield too! It was just North of Bakersfield where I had my auto accident a few weeks ago, and I talked to a lot of them!!(y);)

Funny how different countries have different laws. In Australia they only ask for your licence. Your registration stays safe at home with all your other paperwork.

That's kind of stupid huh? Might as well be a tire iron, no, less useful than a tire iron. More like useful as a clothes iron.

.

I keep mine in my door panel but they make some pretty nifty steering column holsters.

They can and they do Husker. They already know if your license is current, if you have any outstanding warrants and if your registration is current. Here in Calif, your tag on the plate, and in your drivers license have a RDIF chip which can be read from a scanning device in the patrol car. They can drive down the street and point it at your car or your house and can tell if anyone inside has a hold, a warrant or expired DL or ID.

I have nephews that are policemen and I have been on "ride-alongs" with them and have seen this done in person. That RDIF chip in your DL tells hem more than that. but I'm sure I'll be called a liar if I tell you what they can see about you.

Big Brother is watching you.

You can't stop there. What else do they know?

I have family that still live in California that I want to laugh at.
