Fair enough, but I feel like the cap situation was different when they traded him. I know White's salary is off the books now, for instance.

Yes, McVay does run the team, but not by himself. Snead has input on all personnel changes.

Also, I'm not sure who leery bern is, but I wouldn't take their word that it's not a contract issue. Both McVay and Snead have said that there were multiple factors in making the move. It's likely that some contract related issues were a contributing factor.

You ask 'what else is left' if contract issues are not it. That's my point. It could be a number of things - an attitude issue, injury concerns, or 20 other things that only those in the know know.

It's speculation, at best, to say that the trade was due to McVay's emotional state.

Les has very little say in active personnel. He takes care of the draft and works the phones for trades. McVay makes all of those calls. He tells Les what he wants. Les can’t go plucking people off the roster, and there’s no way he pushes back against McVay since McVay is the main reason the Rams are a consistently competitive team and is also regarded as one of the best coaches in the league.

Read the article. It sounds eerily similar to what he said about a year after getting rid of Goff. ( I will always like that move). He said he could have handled things differently.

Agreed. This is like cutting your nose off to spite your face.

But who really knows. I remember when the news first came out and McVay jumped to his defense saying he didn't ask to be traded. Maybe it was Snead who Jones or his agent pissed off. I mean McVay didnt say HE could have handled it differently. He said IT could have been handled differently.

As I write this, I am starting to think it was Snead. He is the boss.

Focus on the part where he says it could have been handled differently. That is an admission that they screwed up and handled the situation poorly. In that case it seems like emotions got in the way of making a sound decision.

Sometimes coaching involves sitting a guy down and telling him where he’s screwing up.
