Yea, I'm not even sure how you would go about preventing that catch without a penalty. IMO Sanders is dummy for leaving his feet the way he did. Again, not complaining about the call as it was brutal. I just hope the NFL sees it the same.

I would think that he will get fined... Almost all personal could like that get at least a $7500 fine... But the hit made a statement, the fine money goes to charities

As much as I hated the call at the time I get it. Because the receiver was diving (hence defenseless) they called it.
I'm not sure how you're supposed to defend that type of throw. You're not going to let him catch it first.
It's one of those types of plays I think your'e damned if you do damned if you don't.

Mike Carrey came on with the announcers and said it was a fair play by McCleod.
Rodney came in hot and drilled Sanders as the ball fell through his hands. Perfectly timed.
One of those "OUCH" plays.

Carrey said he understands why they through the flag due to the physical nature, but it was the wrong call by the offficials.
During a football game. Imagine that...
I'm really not liking this "safer" league that Goodell has manufactured.

Its a huge hit - but anyone can see (even in real time and at full speed) it was led by his shoulder - to his shoulder - not anywhere near his helmet. I hate the "that looks too violent" penalty that has crept into the NFL by the back door in recent years. As a Rams fan I'm thinking Janoris Jenkins on Fred Davis, Michael Brockers on Josh McCown and this one.

If the league is mandating rules that are almost impossible for refs to make. It's seems they would make all 15 Yrd penalties automatically reviewed by the refs. Like they do with all tds.

Deserves a re-post because this is exactly the problem.

The hit on Sanders was clean. Later in the game, McCleod left his feet and launched into a WR that could have been called. He hit him in the mid-section but he launched. I think that one deserved a flag if either did.

That was McDonald, but yeah, I agree.

It was a clean hit, but hits like that get get called almost automatically in the NFL as it is now. If the guy gets hurt or looks like he is, it'll be called. Even if it wasn't an illegal hit, the refs usually call that based on reaction alone.

Yeah! They might as well take the pads off and start playing with a checkered round ball.

That was clearly a clean hit but it's almost impossible to tell in real time unless you have the right angle. Which is why I have absolutely no clue why penalties can't be challenged.

Someone also edited this on McLeod's wiki page
