He had some high highs last year but his lack of physicality and inconsistency ultimately led to too many times he was exposed. I'm eager to see how he looks when he's only playing field CB for a handful of snaps a game in dime looks without a dimebacker.

I'd love to see it. Forbes isn't a bad player; he's actually done okay for himself - and honestly, he's been a lot more physical last year than in years past. He's just not a #1, and that's okay. I'd love to see him in nickel when we're not playing big nickel, move McDuffie inside.

He played better after a full Rams off season building strength. Hopefully after another off season workouts he will be that much stronger and play even better.
If he had 25lbs of muscle and keep his speed he could be very good. Dude is LONG.

I believe we all know that the Rams did not plan on Forbes being a #1 or a starter or even the #3 corner. Ankello Witherspoon/ Cobie Durant & Darious Williams was the planned corner main trio. Forbes IMO was the 4th corner out of Training Camp.

The high cost veteran corner ($9,166,666 million) Williams very old very fast. Witherspoon was injured from the first game first quarter of 2025. Durant never played well enough to be consider a new contract. Nickelback Lake went down early and never got the "IT' back. Traded for CB Roger McCreary got hurt right off & never proved himself worth a look in 2026 either.

The 2025 secondary was under a tremendous amount of pressure & it took its toll on everyone in that secondary.

One DB that stepped up into that mess was safety Kamren Curl who was on the field all season. He earned that new nice contract.

On the one hand, last year, Forbes yielded the best/lowest opposing completion percentage of his career at 56.6% completion rate.

On the other hand, it's probably the passes not defensed and the TDs allowed, that will probably define what people (and the coaches) think of him - even when he plays "well":

I don't love having him have to cover more than 15 yards down the field, that's for sure.

Would feel more comfortable if we added an outside CB, incase a injury occurs ‍‍
Hard for a team to invest more than 2 starters, a nickel and a backup outside (field) CB at the position.

Any reinforcements will have to come from inside the building.

He's CB3 because of his inconsistency, but he definitely had several moments where he played like a CB1.

And he improved a lot last year over his 2024 performance. Hopefully, he continues to ascend. He'll be one of the better CB3's in the league.

Forbes is a mystery.

That highlight tape (from OP) is insanely good. Wow! If he always played like that, he'd be a Hall of Famer.

But yes, he's inconsistent. Seems to lose confidence in himself at times. Can't be easy being at such a light weight in the NFL.

Gotta give him props for his incredible improvement last year. Rooting for him. Hope he succeeds as a #2 or #3 corner. Too tough an assignment to be our #1 CB at times last year.

The negativity has been OTT but he’s not a CB1 and struggles against certain WRs especially at the top end. His play dropped off after Lake was injured (along with the whole secondary)

Why, I have never been sure but perhaps they changed the scheme slightly to allow for the loss of their best slot defender? Perhaps he lost form and a little confidence? Maybe it was a bit of both

If anyone can enlighten me that would be great :-)

President GIF

.

A lot of the plays he made were plays he was beaten but the ball placement allowed his make up speed to come into play. Later with better QB play he just was beat. To me he isn't sticky enough. It is good he has the speed to make up for getting beat, but his guys get open. Alot.

I am wondering how many snaps Lake will get in that CB 3 role as opposed to Forbes.....given Lakes' multi-roles, there should be snaps for both.
Forbes could either turn out to be just an average depth CB or one of the better 3/4 CBs in the league.

The coaching for Emmanuel Forbes will be new. Jimmy Lake who hired by Rams in 2023 as DA ,followed Morris in 2024 to ATL to be his DC . Nothing new for Lake he was was fired again but returned to CA as the the senior defensive assistant last season...now has been promoted to take over the pass game coordinator/defensive backs coaching role previously held by Aubrey Pleasant. I am really not sure what the real story was with the Pleasant departure? Lake has an interesting work history (mostly all DB's) to say the least, coaching since 1999.

Brand new CB coach Michael Hunter will be assisting Lake ...thus Rams have new Corner coaches. Chris Beake who coached the safeties (very well) continues in same position. His safety room looks very strong IMO.

Its a very big upcoming season for Emmanuel Forbes going into his last yr under contract. EF cost this season as the Rams #3 corner is decent bargain @ near $2.9 mil. Our DC Shula s now fully aware of the ugly areas of EF & what needs to be fine turned on since he arrived here in December of 2024. Certainly EF is not close to being a Kendrick like #3 corner...that's a BIG positive.

We will see how well the new coaches work on 2 yr Rams Josh Wallace who as it stands currently is our 4th CB along with 3rd yr CB Cam Lampkin who has a very good preseason 2025games. Lampkin saw the field in 4 gms in 2024.
