They think he tore it on the play before the endzone dive now. But I don't remember that play at all and can't find it yet. Anyone remember what happened on that play?

Edit: sorry I misunderstood, they think he tore it on that play but it was before contact when he was planting and turning the corner.

Any hope that the Eagles might get quarterback Carson Wentz back this season was extinguished on Monday afternoon.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson opened his press conference by confirming that Wentz suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during Sunday’s loss to the Rams. Pederson added that no other ligaments were injured.

Pederson said that a review of the film from Sunday left the team with the belief that Wentz may have torn the ligament before getting hit by two Rams defenders on a dive into the end zone, but the response is the same regardless of when it happened.

“I hate it for the season he’s been having,” Pederson said.

Nick Foles will take over as the team’s starting quarterback and Pederson said this is “the reason” why the team moved to get Foles on the roster this offseason. Pederson said he didn’t think there was much about the offense that will change because Foles is now the quarterback and that the team isn’t going to change their goals as a result of the injury.

Pederson called the team “resilient” and they’ll need to be if they’re going to keep rolling without Wentz available the rest of the way.

i cant believe they paid any attention to his play with the Rams, or maybe they think that was all on Fisher, I think differently
train
I dunno man, Goff, Case, and Foles all looked like garbage under fisher... I see a trend there. Don't get me wrong I don't think Foles is the long term answer for Philly but he can def win them some games.

oh yeah?

I thought a bunch of passes completed on 3rd down were quick and from the pocket.
Oh yeah?

What did you see that proved that...in your opinion?

I was wondering because I saw a throw....to a wide open receiver....that hit a DL in the hands...that he dropped...just terribly under thrown. Didn't wanna blame the QB...cause, stuff happens. But I don't think it was accuracy issues.

Now....playing under pressure....IDK.

High and wild

Multiple throws....his guys make plays for him

Couple of sideline throws with WRs 2-3 steps on the defender...a post late in the 1st to AJ

Had a drive in the 2nd where he missed a couple guys

He has a unique skill set with his mobility and arm talent but he misses some guys.

I don't see him lead receivers to YAC.

I'll watch him some more next year.

I blame Pederson and the coaches for this. It was obvious to a number of us that Wentz was playing with reckless abandon, not unlike Cam Newton a few years ago, and would eventually get hurt. They needed to rein in his running style, teach him be careful to avoid not invite hits. They didn't do it. And now it sucks for them and Wentz.

Wentz is gonna be the new Bradford. On again, off a lot. Get used to it Eagle fan!

hmmmm, I've notice high throws...bunch of guys with strong arms throw a lil high....
But
7-0 game....his 2nd drive....seemed like he went through our defense like hot knife thru butter. Didn't know what would stop him...and some very accurate 3rd down throws in there...with some scrambling. This was up until the last 2 drives b4 the half.

I expected more from Quinn and Samson Ebuk.....whatevers....more. Thought I'd get more from Donald and Westbrooks too....Donald was ok.

I thought Brocker was the best DL of the game.

Defense didn't play its best....but I figured Carson W. had a lot to do with that. I mean, that one speed dude had 6 for 100 yards...dude from SF....and went to Balt...Unknown TE is KILLING US! And Blount & Ajayi had their way....Just a poor performance for a playoff caliber team at home.

He missed pretty open receivers multiple times. Of course, he also made some great throws. Tons of room to improve which is scary.

As a football fan, I think this is a total bummer. Wentz is a classy guy and an incredibly amazing athlete. He's been playing lights out all season and for his season to end like that is just tragic. I hope he makes a full recovery.

You may be right... but IMHO Wilson is a lot more shifty .... doesn't take as many clean hits as big strong Wentz does....just a guess.....

Go Rams....... ;)

Agreed. Wilson scrambles to throw quite often, which is fine, and he also is careful for the most part when he does scramble for plus yards. Wentz is like a throwback and he's so damn big he doesn't mind the contact as much but contact in large numbers is just a bad deal.

If you look at the scramblers in the hall of fame, they tend to scramble to buy time to throw. Tark, Elway, Young, and someday Wilson. They're also not big guys who take a lot of hits. You gotta limit hits at QB and it's up to the staff to coach that until it takes in a player's head.

Wentz played AN INCREDIBLE game....blew away Goff.
GOff played well, but he doesn't have those legs....but, then either does Wentz because he ain't playing anymore this year....Legs made him, now they keep him out of the playoffs.

Goff was fine, he played well, we just didn't have enough touches on offense for them to get into a great rhythm. If a few of those drive extending bullshit penalties don't get thrown (as they shouldn't have) I think the stat lines are very different for both QB's, the Rams have a W and Wentz is playing next week.

Wentz has a tendency to miss easy throws, throws that Goff typically does not miss. Wentz has the ability to make those amazing "How the fuck did that happen?" throws that you only see from a few QB's, like Big Ben or Wilson. If Wentz can get those easy throws down, then he'll be a lot better, if he can't then that's going to shorten his career. RG3 could make those throws but he couldn't play from the pocket.

Wentz is better from the pocket than RG3 is, but that's still his weakness, and that's why I wanted Goff. Better in the pocket typically translates to longer times playing at a high level. If Wentz can master the pocket he's going to be a very dangerous QB.

The bad news (for any athlete) - Wentz tore his ACL

The good news? Now, maybe we won't have the weekly "Goff vs. Wentz" threads! :yay:
