Agreed. Our ONLY hope in the playoffs was our offense racking up a crap load of points to compensate for our bad D. Now the O looks just as bad as the D, this team does not have a chance in the playoffs. We look tired and our opponents have our O figured out.
Too many flaws. DB's as a unit are awful. LB's not up to scratch. Can't stop the run. Not getting pressure on the QB.
Offense looks mentally exhausted and predictable. O-line has regressed. Todd looks less explosive. Goff looks....umm...bad.
We have the workings of a good team. We have a very smart HC and a great core of players, but it has all unwound at the worst moment of the year.
I'm not upset about it; we've had a great year, and it was thrilling when we were on top of the world. The reality is, our Defense is not playoff caliber and our offense (and Goff) has all of a sudden regressed at light speed. So whatever happens in the Playoffs, have fun and don't take it to heart. It's been a fun year.
P.s. Wade clearly has to go.
I hate to say it, but I agree with you. As Rams fans, I think we need to look at perspective here. Would we rather experience what we're going through now or go back to the Spags, Linehan, Fisher eras? I'll take McVay any day, forever.
We're a young team. We have a lot to learn, and frankly, we need a lot more depth on both sides of the ball. I want to shore up this offensive line and get some key players added to the defense for next year. I wouldn't be too sad if we saw Peters or Suh leave. They've been beyond disappointing.
Wade I think needs more of "his" players, but he of course worries me too.
This week will be interesting. If we win and get back on track in a dominant fashion, my faith will be somewhat restored. I wouldn't sleep on the 49ers either, as much as I hate to admit that. They just beat the Seahawks, who are a scary team heading into the playoffs right now.
What I'd LOVE to see:
-Get two more Ws to end the year 13-3.
-Let Gurley and some OL rest. Let's see what Noteboom can do.
-If Gurley is on the bench, we're putting everything on Goff. He did it against the Chiefs, there's no reason to believe that he's incapable of leading this team. His play has been worrisome, don't get me wrong, but he also hasn't had the protection he's used to--that throws off everything. Regardless, adjustments need to be made during the game and I'm not sure why that hasn't been happening.
Overall, it's nice being in the playoffs two years in a row. I'd love to see us get to the Championship game at the very least for experience's sake. But let's see what happens. Frankly, I'll be in panic mode if we lose to AZ...
It's been a fun ride and I anticipate getting more valuable pieces in the draft. No more high profile FA signings with questionable personalities. It just doesn't work with what McVay's trying to do with this team.
