If Brees needs surgery on a ligament I would be surprised if he can come back in 6 weeks.
It does sound aggressive.
Brees might be a "good guy" but he certianly piled on the "boo hoo we're such victims we were robbed mentality" so my sympathy right now is pretty low

More like irresponsible. From what I have read, this type of injury has you in a cast for 6 weeks alone, and 2 weeks plus to even get some kind of movement and range with phy therapy. I wouldn't be shocked if he didn't play this year.
2019 is over for the Saints.
probably be wise to Tua Tank
And at 40 years old, we old dogs can tell you, the healing process takes forever! Something that I could shake off in a week, now takes takes 2 or 3 weeks. It's scary getting old. You won't ever see me on a skateboard again!More like irresponsible. Report: Drew Brees pushing to return from thumb injury in Week 8Report: Drew Brees pushing to return from thumb injury in Week 8

The New Orleans Saints have won three games in a row under Teddy Bridgewater and should be in great shape whenever Drew Brees returns from his thumb injury, and all signs point to that happening sooner rather than later.
Brees has been rehabbing hard and says he understands the risks associated with rushing back, and some believe the Saints will hold him out through their Week 9 bye to give him a couple of extra weeks of rest. However, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports that Brees is pushing to return in Week 8, which would mean he misses just two more games.

Bridgewater’s steady performance has given the Saints the ability to be patient. He has completed over 70 percent of his passes and has a passer rating of 99.5, proving why New Orleans chose to make him the highest-paid backup quarterback in football. The Saints have tough road games coming up against the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears, but they would still have an impressive 5-2 record if they won just one of them.
Brees posted some Instagram videos over the weekend that showed him already throwing passes less than three weeks after undergoing thumb surgery, though they may have been a bit deceiving. We know how competitive he is and how badly he wants to return, but making sure he is 100 percent healthy and not at risk of re-injuring the thumb is the top priority for the Saints.
