Probably because Sadiq is just that much better as a blocker. Stowers is definitely the better receiver at this point though, I see him going late 1st/early 2nd.
If the reality is that the Rams have been and will continue to ignore elite offensive players because they aren’t great blockers then that would explain why we need more dynamic offensive players at WR/RB and TE.

I really hope that isn’t the case when approaching FA and especially the draft.

I'm trying to remember the last super high end talent TE, the jumbo wideout type athletes like Sadiq, who hit in the draft. But my memory can't really produce it. Sadiq feels like a guy who would need to redshirt in our TE room, then he'd have fans crying every week about how the staff is stupid not to use him like we saw with Tutu, and we'd have to wait for him to develop so for 2026 he wouldn't move the bar.

Why not draft someone who's going to move the bar in 2026. There are wideouts in this class who would do that. There are DTs who would do that. There are ILBs and CBs who would do that. Safeties. TE is the one position where it's really tough to see early contribution and that room for the Rams is strong. So many other positions where we would see an easier path to carving out a role early on.

If Sadiq's there at 13 I am fine with the Rams taking him and stashing him on the roster. I'd just rather have a role we could use added there. And as it pertains to BPA, Sadiq has a lot of projection tied to him, which works against him when you're considering some wideouts who would certainly perform in a role for us as early as this season.

Tate, Tyson, Boston all line up year one as WR3 for us and would be afterthoughts for defenses. All of them are ready to at the very least stretch the field in that role as they adjust to the NFL. Probably all of them immediately contribute as big targets in the redzone and down the sideline where Stafford feasts late in games. And all of them have the hands and catch radius you want for a QB like Stafford who aggressively puts the ball on dudes and gives them a chance.

I'm off the wagon on Tyson because of his injury history.

I still like both Tate and Boston fairly well but have cooled some on them because they're strength is in the intermediate game. I'd like to see an X that can threaten at all three leveles but would be a huge shot of juice in the deep game.

Tyson is probably the best fit of the three for plugging in with the Rams and being felt as a rookie. His injuries worry me too. But if the Rams clear him and take him, stand by. Because he is going to feast with 9 at QB and defenses sweating Nacua and Adams.

Boston is a lot like Tet. He is always open. Whether he's running an underneath route or a deep route if the ball is anywhere near him he will come down with it. He is sudden in movement and smooth in his routes. 4 drops in 4 years. He is a Stafford type WR. A perfect complement for Stafford.

Tate's gonna be off the board but he's strong in all respects and I love how he gets off that line of scrimmage.

The X role is more about size and perimeter threat to catch high points and deep outs and bodying DBs in the redzone and on third down. You want a certain level of speed but speed by itself is not as important as the frame, the hands, the body control and aggression to the ball. Boston can run nines in this offense and Stafford putting it in just his general area has a real chance to convert. One on one he's a monster.

As it pertains to one on one here's PFF's WR rankings last season in college ball vs man coverage. The top dudes were Boston, Sarratt, then Tyson.

By the way Sarratt is going to be available later into the draft. Also into round 3 there are options like Lane or Fields. This class is loaded. I'm sweet on Lane, but he's going to need to work on his get off to beat the jam. Though I imagine with the Rams that won't be too hard to figure out, given our WR quality plus coaches.

Kyle Pitts or Evan Engram, probably.

Sarrat is being overlooked. Bigger than Omar Cooper but just as productive. And he’s an high effort guy who has excelled at every level in college as he moved up the ladder in programs. I got to watch him a lot his one year at JMU (under Coach Cignetti) and he was a beast.

He didn't work out at the combine did he. One would think he mostly had room to gain by doing the workouts, though as long as he performs well at his pro day he'll be ok. But if I was him I'd just lay it on the line at the combine and try to show I have a little more wheels than they think.

Don’t forget about Concepcion. Not the biggest guy, but if you want a deep threat who has solid hands and is an extremely dangerous punt returner (think prime Desean Jackson without his issues), Concepcion - provided a trade down - might actually be in play.

I just remember he had great hands and battled and won
50/50 balls.

I wonder If Sadiq could be used as a pure H-Back, and dare I say in a FB role? Great blocker, elite athlete, a real physical presence in our run game. It could be a nice tweak to the offense.

I believe he's run plays from the backfield in college and given his dimensions (6'3'') he probably would be able to work with better leverage on some blocks we'd ask him to do in the backfield than our other TEs.

That was my thinking since he is not a 6'5" lanky TE, more compact at 6-3 250.
