Yes you are.To each their own. It's been a very long time since the team was successful. Maybe I'm a burnt out fan.
Shape up!

It works great in the offseason, but biting hard in the offseason to get crushed in the regular season hurts so bad. I hope to try to stay grounded, so if things go bad it won't hurt as bad. We'll see. Probably will get hyped during camp like normal.Yeah ... I thin you are. And i don't blame you one bit but ... damn man.... come on over to the bright side and enjoy a little ... until proven otherwiseIt's a whole lot better when you have optimism because .. .the change we all asked for has come. Let's give it a chance before we drown it out and chop it down. that crap is so depressing
Exactly.
Lamp is a perfect example of fans being set on a particular player based on their own observations, yet having no idea of the coaching staff's direction for a team. That latter part is pretty important.
Kromer said he wants to work with our current OL group, rather than more rookies. So even if Lamp was the BPA, picking him wouldn't have made any sense with a guy you covet in Everett still on the board. Plus we were able to trade down and get an additional pick.
Fair enough you have your opinion. The guys that were just hired and paid millions to coach our favorite team gave us their opinion. Sorry if I trust them more than your opinion. These guys have a clean slate. It's pretty weak of us as fans to cast so much shade at them because of Fisher and his staff.I just don't think it's good strategy to draft guys that need a fair amount of coaching up over guys who are more polished.
I hated not selecting Lamp at 37 and was livid.
Having time to think about it I've retraced my steps and watched a little more film on Everett.
I think something is to be said about taking your guys a round earlier. This ensures you get the guys you want. Draft grades be damned.
If Kupp and Everett turn into pro bowl playmaking guys,Which is very possible, this draft will have been genius.
Yes, agree with ants, we talk a lot about Lamp like we just passed on Aaron Donald - Lamp is NOT the same. If he has wrist injuries as suspected by some he could even be a B Jones type pick.
Likewise Everett is NOT a Quick or Avery pick, he's a proven TE that will catch the ball and move the chains and score points for the Rams. Other teams were eyeballing him; Quick, Avery & even Pead for that matter were terrible overreaches.
I'm liking the draft so far, will be an exciting time in camp to see which WRs CBs OLs and DE/OLBs make the cut.

The problem with that generalization is that for the first time in years, I wasn't set on any player.
Hang in there man. IDK how old ya are, but i'm 53 and have had many, many yrs of this. But I still love this team. Every year that it goes bad, I vow to start the next season anew ... otherwise, I might as well just go bandwagon other teams. Trust me... I am "realistic" .. but at least to start the season, I begin optimistic until they let me down....It works great in the offseason, but biting hard in the offseason to get crushed in the regular season hurts so bad. Key word there.
And simple "BPA" didn't fit with the plan the coaches had in place.
Instances like that are where this scouting and projecting from people outside of NFL team circles falls apart; you have no idea the goals a particular team has going into the draft. Everyone said we needed OL help, aside from the people in the LA Rams front office. So naturally, people were surprised we didn't take Lamp (actually traded down when he was right in front of us) when Everett was the guy all along.
This to me should have been the main focal point. He is the most talented guy on the offense. Getting him to 2015 level and above makes Goff's job much easier and will help him with his development.
You bring up the Pettis comp, this draft reminds me a lot of the 2011 one. I think Kupp has a much higher upside than Pettis, but I can see the comparison. Everette and Kendricks are similar types of players as well. The argument for the 2011 guys is the same for this draft as well, scheme fit. Kendricks was to be McDaniels Aaron Hernandez, Everette is to be McVay's Jordan Reed. While the draft feels similar, these will prove it on the field.
