Yeah like RamfanWA said. Add Avila is only in his 2nd season.

Avila-Limmer-Dotson should provide us with a top-notch interior line for the next few years… if they can stay fit.

Dotson has rapidly become one of my favourite current Rams: quality player and a really likeable character, too.

LMFAO - why did The Rams sign J.JACKSON after signing Dotson first ? I could see them trying to sign 1 of the 2.

Avila played CENTER in college, but why move a ALL PRO LG to CENTER!!
Avila’s upside is so much better than Avila !!

—YES we all saw DOTSON play at a ALL PRO LEVEL! He was a leader last set.Playing with like a BROKEN WRIST ?????? Just saw him banged up.This year it was an ANKLE I believe ????? Just thinking of trying to be stable with a BIG BODY like his & get power from lower body to move 290lbs players!

Just LOVE watching Steve Avila back at LG (healthy). After Kupp’s LONG TD against NE you could see him JUMPING UP & SCATthe HECK out of me.He got so animated that he almost ATE.Like an LA Angel did after hitting a Grandslam & jumping on HomePlate.

It’s great to see how these guys get fired up & into it.Dotson last year was so fun to watch. After big plays ( playoff game) he’d show it.

Didn’t see the video before posting, but just seeing when they are doing well & the offense is flowing makes the Rams fun.

Dotson is another guy that his first team couldn't unlock the potential the way the Rams did. They found a gem in Austin Corbett a few years ago.

That's going to go down as one of the great unsolved mysteries.

Well - having The 2024 Draft w/ a couple players that made it in The NFL.

My point is if SEAN MCVAY is about as much as WE vs ME !!

Why doesn’t he(The Rams) reward players for there accomplishments.
The BIG CONTRACTS are there BIG CONTRACTS.

IMO - Whiterspoon,Alaric Jackson, & Coleman Shelton deserved nice contracts. MEANING Milti-Year contracts for there efforts & hard work. NFL Players careers are not forever.

When a player has EARNED his contract he should be rewarded. At least taken care of.

Those 3 players could have been signed to 3 year deal for the price of J. Jackson. They would add depth & leadership.

Dedrich might be the next Coleman Shelton.Whiterspoon might have helped win a couple games T’White lost.Of courser Mcvay is going to talk T’White up for his person. It’s didn’t help on The Grass.

Alaric Jackson has been the most consistent player on The O’Line.Well minus the first 2 games & of course Dotson is playing at a All Pro level again.

Why hold him out (a.Jackson) out though. PAY THE MAN !! He has TOTALLY out played Joseph Noteboom !! Yet Noteboom got that Big Contract!! A’ Jackson & Shelton were both cheap FA pickups.A’Jak being a UDRFA.Whiterspoon out played D.Kendrick to earn a starting job.

Bring back an exRam like D.Williams has been excellent.I like the depth & competition.

Meaning sometimes it’s best to sign your own & keep that TEAM CHEMISTRY. It would be nice to have that camaraderie.

That's just contagious. I can't decide who, out of our starting guards, is more happy-go-lucky out of Dotson and Avila. Keeps the club loose, and it's just...wow. I'd wheel through a brick wall for guys like that.

The Dotson trade was a great move.

Dotson, a fourth-round pick in 2020, was one of the Rams' best acquisitions in 2023. The Rams traded for Dotson during training camp, sending 2024 fourth-round and 2025 fifth-round picks to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Dotson and 2024 fifth-round and 2025 sixth-round picks.Mar 7, 2024

I think it’s simple. We had no center at the time. There weren’t any centers available to sign (or any that wanted to sign with us) so they figured moving Avila to center and signing a guard with some accolades would be better than resigning Shelton or Allen, or rolling with a rookie.

Of course that didn’t work out as planned but I understand the thought process.

That doesn’t make since, especially under Sean Mcvay they have neglected The Center position.

To think moving your BEST O’LINE DRAFT pick under Mcvay from LG to Center doesn’t make much sense.

And we fucked up some seasons neglecting the o line too. They know that and have been focusing on correcting it. First with drafting Avila, our highest lineman drafted under McVay, and then with prioritizing Dotson.

Accurate I think. But even understanding hindsight being 20/20 it's fair criticism to question the plan.

Now granted I wasn't against the plan so not trying to take a victory lap here or anything. I figured if they felt Avila could play Center they had a good chance to be right. But I expect when the Rams do a lessons learned on this past FA season they're gonna nuke it as they should. It's one thing to move guys around, but as it pertains to signing big ticket players in FA you should be certain that specific spot is a need.

All that aside there is a sense of irony that they finally prioritize the OL and then find a late round gem at Center. Kind of funny, in a good way. :laugh3:

Yeah when we drafted Avila, people liked that he was a guard/center hybrid and there was little criticism here when the decision was announced he’ll move to center.

I’m not saying it was the right decision and the criticism is fair, but I trusted the team and hoped it worked out like the rest of us. Most of this criticism was not going on back in June.
