I've torn my ACL and MCL at once. The way Sam was walking off the field, I doubt this is the case. h
Hyper extension would make much more sense as Fisher seemed to think.

Yeah I did an ACL and MCL at the same time. You cant put weight on it - it just gives way only because the ligament holding it in place is broken. Sam was walking off under his own steam and had a bit of a limp. He'll know what an ACL will feel like now (unfortunately) and for what its worth (not much as Im not a doctor) I think (or hope) he's gonna be fine.

Whatever the injury mAy be I'd still prefer to see Sam wearing at least 1 knee brace. Bubble wrap optional.

Inconclusive? That's ridiculous. You can tell if it's an ACL/MCL based on a physical exam. There is no physical exam which is "conclusive". There is no imaging test that can identify a ligament tear other than an ACL.

Basically, Mortenson has no idea what he's talking about
I am confused Brokeu91
When I tore my ACL the physical exam was inconclusive like SB and I was cleared for work and told I had a sprain Or hyperextension appx 30 days later when I went to a specialist and had the MRI the Tear was easily diagnosed and one end had attempted to re connect to a bone. ACL tears seem to have different symptoms depending on the severity A partial tear I am told hurts my complete tear was hardly noticeable other than the instability I felt on that leg.

SB looked to have a DonJoy brace on they are Carbon fiber strong and state of the art. the same ones you see many colleges use on both legs of their O lineman for precautionary reasons

Manual physical examines are a quick way to determine if there is a rupture at the ACL. There are multiple tests to determine this, but there are 3 that are most commonly used. However, there is no 100% way to determine what kind of damage is done without actually cutting open the knee. The MRI is obviously the MOST accurate as it will give a doc the most accurate picture of the damage. The general population usually isn't directed to have an MRI unless there is a for sure failure of the test. Mainly due to the cost, insurance, etc and the fact that many everyday individuals can do just fine without an ACL.

Pro athletes are a different story. The tests Bradford may have passed or been borderline. They will never take chances on pro athletes and an MRI would happen probably no matter if he passed these manual tests or not.

Everyone handles pain differently. Some athletes tear their ACLs/ligaments and continue playing only later to find out they had a tear. Others go down and roll in pain with simple bruises. This is player dependent.

I too had a complete tear and it hurt like hell. I have talked to others who have torn it and it did not hurt.

My best guess is Bradford may have passed the ACL test, but the team is worried about meniscus, PCL, and possible the MCL depending on where the force came from.

Let's hope for the best!

My meniscus hurt more than the ACL, the meniscus would fold up a little and would catch, Weird feeling you would be walking fine and your knee would catch slightly tripping you very strange and somewhat painful.
I totally agree that cutting answers all questions. After the same accident the doctors and I went to many could not figure out why I had groin pain it wasn't until they cut me open based shearly on my constant complaining of discomfort. They found a torn inguinal hernia and I saw every doctor and had every test known to man prior to the surgery. You are exactly right that insurance companies will spend money on cheaper tests before spending on the more expensive tests and often patients do not advocate fro themselves. Moral of the story, if you believe something is wrong with you stand up for yourself and let the Doctors know they have to act if you continue to complain.

if I had to guess, by the way Sam was walking off into the lockeroom without much of a limp at all, and Fisher not sounding too concerned, I would guess it was not too bad of an injury, that they are just going to be cautious with him until the season opens.

I think I'm finally starting to relax, now. Im going with the scar tissue theory...

His knee got caught up a little bit, felt some pain, and will feel even better than before in a week or so.

I don't expect him to start until week 1.

Trust me, I highly doubt there is one RAMS fan that is relaxed or 'chill' about the diagnosis that we have been told..
Naturally...he took a hit right on the knee cap and I think it hyper-extended. When the guy walked to the locker room I knew they had to given it a thorough examination.

The MRI has to be to verify no damage to the repaired area...but I don't think we see Sam play but *MAYBE* 1 drive next week...IF THAT.

Hopefully Jake Long will tear a little scar tissue this week. May as well get it out of the way now...

We're checking all the boxes this week ;)

I vote 0 reps next week. Dude is ready. He's looked as good as we've ever seen him.

I tore my ACL in college. I was writhing in pain on the ground for about 4 - 5 minutes. I then walked off on my own, and an hour later drove home to St. Louis from Columbia so I didn't have to deal with student health doctors.

The initial diagnosis from my ortho surgeon was that it was not torn (he pulled, twisted and jarred my leg to see if it was loose). Thankfully he ordered an MRI anyway because of how massively it swelled up (as Thor mentioned, it had to be drained for awhile).

It was completely torn, so badly that the force of my ACL tearing almost blew out my MCL and LCL.

This isn't meant to be an "OMG BRADFORD TORE HIS ACL AGAIN!!!" It's more of "Mortensen posts crap like this to have an Enquirer-type effect" comment. Of course they would do more f*ing tests. Really Chris?! They are just going to give the old knee a pull and determine all is well? Dear God...

When I tore mine (basketball) the ACL, MCL and menisucs all were toast. I knew it when it happened that something was pretty bad but I didn't know it was that severe.
I limped out of the gym and drove myself to the hospital to get a brace. Since Fisher said Sam was walking around fine in the locker room there is no way it's tore again.
If it is I would be in utter shock.
