At the end of this you can clearly see the throw wasn't as close as it seemed.

I also want to add that the idea that Burrows on 4th and 1 would not have tried a much lower percentage play as a home run ball (sincerely shouldn't have) with that kind of time on the clock. Ramsey tripped up while maybe seeing that Brrr's was almost on the ground.

It certainly wasn't 4-5 yards away as the announcer said. Maybe 1 1/2 yards and I agree with Jacobarch who said Perrine wasn't prepared for it. Maybe if he was he would have tried but oh well, rings for the Rams.

Donald tackles Qb's like that very often. I even seem to remember him going through training in an offseason years ago and practicing that specific take down of QB's.

I can't believe Cincy just did a straight drop back and left AD singled up. Insane.

On the prior play ... the thrid-and-one ... where Perine was stopped-cold, Donald received a ton of praise for standing-up Adeniji and stuffing the back with one arm. The recognition was well-deserved. However, what was mostly ignored because of the popular camera angle, was that Greg Gaines (lined-up to Donald's right) also beat his man and was a big part of the tackle with AD.

Gaines was terrific after Joseph-Day went-down; and A'Shawn Robinson was great on run-downs in the Playoffs.

The momentum of the ball just stopped and the ball dropped. Had it continued for just 3 feet more Perine might have been able to make a play on the ball. But it dropped too fast too far away. AD's twisting tackle was to prevent Burrows from getting the ball out which he might have been able to do if Donald tackled him conventionally. Remember if AD does it conventionally and tries to knock the arm down he risks contact to the head. IMO AD did it right.

The NFL used his style of tackling in an instructional video to show other defensive players how to do it right, without being flagged, a few years ago.

Donald killed that play by getting into the backfield so quick. Burrow's pass fell incomplete because of him.

Every time I watch it I still get nervous that Perrine will catch it and Cincy goes on to tie or win game lol. Not sure why he didn't lay out as he looked uninterested in making a super bowl saving play?

Al Michaels tone lifted as he thought Perrine might make the catch and then dropped when he realized he wouldn't. One of Michaels least memorable game/super bowl winning play calls as either he wasn't happy or he's getting too old to revisit a "do you believe in miracles, yes" type moment.

I so wish that Donald had wrapped Burrow up and brought him quietly to the ground instead of grabbing him by the waist and swinging him around giving him the slight chance of making a play. That would have set the record for sacks at 8 which may never be broken and stopped us from having to hold our breath that one last time in that game while giving Michaels a better chance of a more memorable Super Bowl winning worthy call. "The Rams win by a yard"
Agree on Donald wrapping him up, rather than swinging him around. If Burrow had managed to complete that pass, everybody here would be saying the same thing.

I have a feeling Donald was going to throw him to the turf like he did to Kirk Cousins, but then realized he could be hit with a roughing the QB call, so then decided to gently lay him on the ground.

The crazy thing is that Ramsey fell down and Chase was wide open on the same side he threw the ball away. If he had another 1/2 second or second of time it a gimme TD.
A pass rush changes everything.
Also, Donalds most remarkable play was the play before.
On 3rd and 1 Donald started to get moved off his spot and held off a 340 lb OL man with one arm and tackled the running back with his left arm.
That is truly a super human strength kind of play.
The guy is simply a one of kind all timer.

Donald used to get a fair amount of roughing calls.
This year, all year, he changed to this model of spinning and throwing the QB down instead of wrapping up.
He really didn't get flagged this year.
Its a good idea who is getting to the QB as often as he does.

As someone posted above, Ramsey was on Chase like a blanket and then he looked back and saw Donald had Burrow and that's when Ramsey fell down. He was probably going to celebrate and slipped.

Cool.
I saw a different shot that made it look like he fell before....like showing one shot then the other. Good to know. Jalen is great and Im glad we have him.

THIS

The League does not want pass-rushers to drive the QB into the ground, or even just fall on them completing the sack. Donald often takes down QBs to avoid those penalties that would otherwise be difficult to avoid.
