Unfortunately moving Easley to OLB was probably an indication of last option for him on the Rams. It’s a tough business but it’s next man up. I still believe the Rams should bring in a get to help until the youngsters get acclimated. Not sure if that would require a trade or a pickup but think it’s a glaring Need.
Not sure how Wade will go about this situation. Going up against Wilson in his
hometurf-420 field is super tough assignment for any talented well seasoned OLB/Edge Rusher!:notsure: Wison is a
nightmare for outside containment assignments. Wilson is quicker/smarter/stronger & more elusive than most all the NFL ER's. Both Ebukam & Longacre have some expereince with Wilson but only as relief experience. I have concerns with both our starters here. Wilson
not contained & making throws on the run is not what you want to have in Seattle.
(A.)Go with a heavy dose of Matt Longacre & hope that Matt works his way gets back to where he was last season before the back & bicep injuries? (as you suggest) then utilize rookie 6th & 7th rders Lawler & Young in relief.
(B.)Work Barron back in part time with some snaps to free up Cory Littleton inside thus utilizing his best outside pass rushing LB'er on the edges more often & still having a playmaking LB'er on the field?
(C.)Go with the 6-4 288 lb
rookie 4th rder Franklin-myers as a full timer on the edge in place of Easley & use Longacre as the main first reserve for (Ebukam/Frankin) thus gambling with JFM lack of pass coverage skills plus lack of quick twitch quickness?
(D.) If Barron continues to be out, plan to use the
quick & fast Cory Littleton in place of Dom Easley & then insert veteran 4th yr inside LB & back up defensive play caller Bryce Hager in place of Littleton inside to go with (Ramik Wilson/Marqiu Christian).Assigning CL dogging Wilson full time.
See any other consideration out there for Wade? You could go with a mixer of all the above but I would plan now to go with D.
Very true. It may be the case that he hasn't had significant amounts s of cartilage removed previously. That could mean some bone on bone 'rubbing' which wouldn't be conducive to him playing again.
I have always liked Dom Easley going back to Gatorville times. It sure would be great news if the Rams were to keep DE on the roster it may indicate that the findings & results from this procedure might be less damage but any previous op knee (which is DE case) is going to be easy to make it angry agitated & prone to swelling in the future when put in playing stress. Any full time action this season is most likely over with a very angry agitated agrivated wore down knee.
