Does Fisher have enough good outside Corners for 2016 season?

Concerning the safety position: I think it should be noted that when McDonald went down, it was Mo Alexander who stepped in and did a decent job. I wouldn't be surprised to see McDonald take McClouds spot and Mo take over McDonalds spot. Its going to be fun watching how they mix and match the backfield in TC. they have a lot of options.

While losing JJ is a blow, it's not like we lost a shutdown corner. Were teams afraid to throw to Jenkins' side? No.

I happen to believe in the defensive program that's been built up here over the last 4 years. I think the Rams do too.
It's a job opportunity rather than a hole.

Good topic.

I like our CB depth chart.

Joyner shined at times last year. Roberson has played well. Gaines is a good player, assuming he's back healthy. Sensabaugh... is a wild card, but this staff seems to find guys that fit their scheme.

I like Winston Rose, too.

If your not at least a little worried about Quinn and Gaines, your not paying attention. Quinn, in particular worries me because he is a bit of a one trick pony with the pass rush moves. His speed then bend hard around the edge move will be awful hard to do if his back isn't the same.

Agree Quinn won't be the same if his back is not okay...

But it appears okay.

He started 2015 very HOT. If he's well this guy is NO one trick pony.

I have read your post before on this tidbit of information on Joyner but have not seen it anywhere coming from Fisher or Snead as of yet but that don't mean a thing they may have already made the move. I just happen to believe that Joyner would make a excellent deep safety myself. But my concerns @ corner would stop me dead in my tracks at any thought of moving LJ from his starting Nickel Post. Hopefully Fisher & Williams feel the same. Having to replace your top starting four yr corner @ the same time replacing your four yr starter @ deep safety is serious enough but then to go replace your starting Nickle for the last two seasons IMO would be way too much at one time. They also will be replacing two real long time starters @ MLB & LDE too.

It would seem to me when you have three starting strong safeties ready to go (TJ/Mo & Mark) plus add in top reserve safety Cody Davis who has been on the Ram roster since 2012 plus 2015 Ram drafted safety Christian Bryant signed all up there would seem to be plenty of experience. Finally Snead's team found four decent looking 2016 UDFA's deep safety types in Jordan Lomax, Mike Jordan, Rohan Gaines & Brian Randolph.

Based on the above I see no need to yank & uproot Lamarcus Joyner this season with all the safeties Snead & Fisher have provided to Gregg Williams to work with. By next March free agency time both Trumaine Johnson & Marcus Roberson we enter free agency together. The 2017 corner cadre unit will sure enough be in dire-straights if we loose them both.
They will be signing Donte Whitner after 5/12

He was a shut down cb last year. Only bad game he had was vs Aj Green. Tru just looked better because he had all the ints. Mark my words this team will suffer with Tru as #1. Also not much faith that Gaines plays as well as he did rookie year

Yep and been saying that seemingly forever myself. Rams have been investing in safeties and let McLeod walk for a reason: they like their depth.

Joyner is not in the mix for FS. Never has been other than in the hearts and minds of fans. Fish and Williams are building a huge and fast defense down the middle and Joyner's best contribution to this team is shutting down the quicker slot types.

Alexander did a better than decent job too IMO. He was downright good and with another camp should be more than that. Also TJ is capable of dropping deep, and whether he has the right instincts remains to be seen. But, again, betting against Williams' coaching ability is not a winning proposition. The dude knows how to develop DBs in particular and does a great job disguising their weaknesses.

Hey ReddingRam ....Would that possibly interfere with the available cap funds to resign safety TJ McDonald in less than a yr from now? Will Donte sign a short term one yr contract? Having Donte here would send either Mo or TJ to the bench when both look like they can start together & save $$.

Rams org. already has an Unbelievable up hill climb with the future pending contracts (2017) to be made with SIX present starters....i.e NT Michael Brockers, CB Trumaine Johnson, WR Kenny Britt, OLB Akeem Ayers, OLG Garrett Reynolds & SS TJ McDonald. Plus two other starters 5th yr. options picked up on WR Tavon Austin & MLB Alec Ogletree.

Spending 2016/2017 cap $$$ funds on another veteran Strong Safety Donte Whitner ??? would appear to be somewhat unwise IMO with so much pending, IF it keeps the Rams from inking $$$ a Brockers or a Johnson & on & on. IMO I would use $$ to secure our own safety TJ McDonald under contract for long term play, early & reframe spending on a trending downward aging safety.

I would like to see both TJ & Mo on the field together myself with Mo playing closer to the LOS. TJ is sure to cause major distractions for any receiver seeing him closing in on him .:dizzy::yess: plus it gives TJ's reconstructed shoulder a breather & allow less hitting action.

I don't think it will prevent them from doing anything. The Rams are going to have a BOATLOAD of money coming free next year ... and everything is how you structure it.

What is special about this^ Date!? IDK!
Well ... .this is all speculation on my part but ...... May 12th is the date that you can sign Free Agents and it WON"T hurt the calculations formula for the compensatory picks we should get from losing Jenkz, McCleod, and Fairly.

Whitner keeps hinting at "patience" ... and then this date was brought to my attention. Sounds plausible to me :)

Here is an article

http://www.thephinsider.com/2016/5/...ailable-ahead-of-may-12-free-agency-round-two

Best free agents available ahead of May 12 free agency round two

The NFL stops counting free agent acquisitions against the compensatory draft pick formula May 12. That means, there should be another round of free agent signings shortly thereafter.

 TWEET SHARE (39) PIN
The Miami Dolphins, and the rest of the NFL, are preparing for another round of free agency as the calendar closes in on the May 12 magical date. During most of free agency, the league uses the players a team loses, along with the new contracts a team signs, in an algorithm to determine compensatory draft picks awarded for the following year's Draft. The league ends those considerations on May 12, meaning teams can now sign players without endangering any potential compensatory picks they will receive for the 2017 Draft.

**I only posted the first part of the article, as the rest was pertaining to individual players available**

A. I think we'll be OK at corner.

B. JJ was a significant (to huge) loss. The guy is good. Tru benefited from teams' not throwing to JJ's side, INT wise.

C. Gaines is for real, and should recover fine.

D. McCleod was OK , not a huge loss imo.
(remember when Bartell was the second coming, then was out of the league 2 years later?)

E. R E L A X. On a scale of 1-10, the Rams secondary play is maybe, maybe, a 2 relative to their 2016 success.

F. ...this negativity. :rolllaugh::boxing:

P. S.

Maybe , just maybe, the chicken littles worried about signing all our future superstars, should let , ....I dunno, Demoff take care of it.

He's probably the best there is in the NFL.

I'm telling you all right now and herd my words... Don't sleep on Winston Rose. He's definitely not bad for the #6 CB and I could see him move up the roster eventually once he gets the scheme and speed under his belt.

Depending on Quinn's health and Coples's progress, our secondary will have a lot of breathing room. A good D-line tends to mask a secondary's weakness, especially when a quarterback is limited to short passes.
