You better get AIC's name oucha MF mouf. Facelift and Dirt are still 2 of the finest albums ever written. Younger generations are discovering them and eating it up. Good music is good music. Period.

All of this is subjective, of course, but if you liked them in the 90s, I am not sure HOW you can't like them now. Unless you were really just a casual fan back then... Shame shame.
I’m an avid music collector. Dirt was a top 20 rock album of all time in my book. The best part is it was so deep and dark it took a number of listens to really hit you.

.....and that's the positive perception. I noticed you didn't feel compelled to add; "if you want to paint me as positive just because it's a positive angle, have at it"........

Reality is QB/LT is neither an asset nor a problem because the season hasn't started, so all we have to go on are perceptions. I remember Stafford's neck injury was going to be a problem in 2023; maybe even career ending. :eyeroll:

The defense.....across the board......was much improved towards the end of the year and perception is, they've improved it.
I’ll admit to being an optimist. I didn’t even write that because I had a problem with @Merlin being “negative”. People handle things differently and I don’t view him as only dwelling on the negative.

I just don’t tend to get into all that’s wrong with the team before they even play a snap.

It doesn’t make him wrong or me right. It was just my perspective.

Loved them then. Like them now. Dirt is a GREAT MF Album. Just dont go to my grunge "bench" (AIC, Nirvana) NEARLY as much as I go to my Classic bench, Floyd, CSN, Simon + Garfunkel, Yes, Eagles, F. Mac.

Commenting on the Grunge stuff.. there was truly some incredible music in that era and it reset rock and roll.
One thing I've always felt about who "killed" the hair bands.. it wasn't Grunge, it was Guns and Roses. They were the, forgive the usage, grungy and felt authentic where hair bands felt increasingly manufactured and formulaic. Gave the audiences a taste for something that wasn't quite there.. along with the rise of Metallica. I think those two bands set the stage for grunge in many ways.

Dirt was awesome.. an aside.. I remember it was the loudest recorded album I had ever heard. "Them Bones" exploded from the speakers when you hit play. "Would" will always be an all-time banger for me.

I think the defense will be a couple of tiers higher this season. I think people underrate continuity in scheme. Everyone they're counting on in the secondary was here last season.. and the communication on the back end is just so critical. The safeties have legitimate talent, imo.. and I think the corners will hold up to what they're asked.
I'm VERY excited to see Landman and Speights together in the scheme running behind Poona and company.

And that's all I was saying......it's a perspective. Yours. Merlin's. Mine. Dr. Chow's. Etc. I haven't been a regular here long enough to know posters by reputation anyway. And we're not close enough to the team to really know WTF is going on with any of them. I agree 1000% about not getting the kvetching and worrying before the first snap of the season has occurred. We're all worried about Alaric's bloodclots and Stafford's back but it's football. The never injured, healthiest guy on the team when preseason is over, could go down for the season in week 1. Do we worry about that? Not really. Because it's football. Man I can't wait for week one, when we really find out if there's something to worry about or not.

It is very easy to just trust in McVay and the Rams. Because usually they end up maximizing what they have. They're among the very best at what they do.

But I detest blind following or agreement just like I detest the opposite where it's always assuming the worst. I prefer to look at the depth chart, trends within the team, try to read between the lines in what the spin is from the team, and then the opinion is what it is.

Also when I feel negative about the team I always hope I'm wrong. I think that's important too, since we're all rooting for this team to win. But aside from all that the danger signs are there for us. To ignore the fact that Stafford is moving so gingerly (I winced watching a vid of him last week), plus the potential for us to not have our starting LT, means what are Stafford's chances of staying healthy when he's getting teed off on from his blindside in three steps with an iffy back.

The dude is a pocket QB. He's got a good feel for the rush and pocket, but is not elusive at his age. Also every time his blindside has been iffy, even the interior and not being able to step up in the pocket for that matter, he has turned into a football dispenser.

Extrapolate that out and what do you do if you're the Rams and you think that Stafford should be mostly ready to play by the opener, but LT will be from the depth chart. Do you play him? Do you put him on the shelf for a few weeks and let Jimmy take the beating while you work the kinks out up front? We really can't make a call here because we have no fucking idea what is going on with LT. But the biggest chance of us seeing the fast start we all want to see is if Stafford and Jackson both play, and what are the chances of that. Overall it gives me a shitty feeling.

Yes, Dem Bones exploded out of the speakers. Rain When I Die and Angry Chair were great. Songs like Hate To Feel and Dirt are underrated.

The only thing that drives me nuts is those people that are selective in calling something McSnead says as coach speak. There are people who will write things off as coach speak if it doesn't match their opinion but they will also get upset or defensive with people who disagree with the coach speak that does match their opinion.

Oh and writing off a draft pick in their first or even second year. The most idiotic thing in the sports world is calling a player a bust early like that, some even will label them that way in their rookie training camps LOL. That's another pet peeve.

Yes but posters who tend to do that end up with very shitty track records. So it all comes around in the end.

I think the defense will be very good this year.
A fast, swarming, hard piping, hungry buncha dudes. The secondary will have the occasional mental lapses.

The offense? Decent. Experienced, efficient but still slowish with limited quick strike ability. That’s WITH Stafford.

Avoiding another dreadful start to the season is a must have.
I'm excited about our young defense, should really kick some ass this year!

Worse case we pound the rock and sack QBs for a few weeks behind Jimmy G and hopefully Stafford gets straightened out by then.

And in the end, we have no idea how we're gonna do. So we can make all the suppositions we want but we won't know a GD thing until the season starts.

Are you saying if a fan doesn't worry, isn't concerned about bloodclots and bulging disks, they are among the blind faith/total agreement crowd?

What I detest is that "if you're not questioning how things appear to be shaping up, then you're this or that".

Shit is gonna go South. It does with almost every team throughout the season. How they overcome those tough times, is what matters. The Rams suffer a slew of injuries and start 3-6 or 1-4 and make the playoffs both times. Our guys seem to inspire a degree of faith. Kupp is out. Puka is discovered. Aaron Donald retires. Verse and Fiske are doing great things.

I remember 2021 vividly. A large majority of fans went Chicken Little in that 3 game losing streak, then did it all over again when SF ended up on the schedule. I remember somebody calling me nuts because I wanted them to play SF.

I've learned to relax and not pay interest on a note that isn't due yet. And usually, things work out pretty good.

Some posters do that. Others mix it up. Just like I'm not usually negative but I'm feeling like we're more a wildcard team than a contender.

Will be good enough to lead the way for the Rams this year? Will the offense be a more ground and pound play action type offense if JG winds up being the Qb? Somewhat similar to the Whiners style of offense under Garoppolo. If Garoppolo plays the majority of the season what is the Rams record and how much does your excitement/expectations drop off? I was extremely stoked coming into the season only to be kicked in the nuts with whats happening with Stafford.
Stafford will be on the field . He is one toughest qb's lace up a cleat. Part of the McVay vision
(Staff's age) has changed our offense to a true 50/50 run, pass. With the play action
at times being a knock out punch. I love that we draft RB's every year in order to maintain
this type of offense. RB depth is a must.

Defensively I like that we're a bit more aggressive. I love offense, but there is
something about this years defense. the possibilities are so intriguing.
This is the group I want to watch. As long as we keep our health.
I honestly think this Defense could shock the NFL. stay tuned.
