Do we make a big trade as part of building our 2026 team?

Burrow is from Ohio so keep that in mind plus if it were to be a possibility, other teams will be in play.

Burrow has one decent team in his division, not 3. As much as I would love this to come to fruition I just don’t see lightning striking twice. Rams are going to have to go the Darnold route after Stafford and I see someone more like a Will Levis or something small that pays huge dividends down the road.
I hear ya. I'll acknowledge it's "just a theory" with zero evidence.

But Snead has shown that he's willing to make a blockbuster trade to secure a franchise QB. Snead went all in for Goff. A few years later, he went all in for Stafford.

Frankly I don't see Snead "going small" in his next move at QB. Betting on someone comparable to Will Levis doesn't seem like Snead's style.

Whoever is the successor to Stafford... I see Snead making a huge splash and betting big.

Someone else posted that Seattle already offered 2 1sts and the Raiders turned it down. I expect that situation to get sticky if not ugly before there’s any resolution.

The Rams tend to draft in bunches and I think we’ll draft as many as 3 CBs this draft depending on how the draft falls to us and the grades we ultimately give guys.

There’s not a Ramsey we can go all in on and even if it were possible to get a Crosby or Garrett, they’d cost much more than BY for nominally better production when we may get better value from a few veteran CBs. That said, I sure wouldn’t be upset if we did get Crosby (I can’t imagine any scenario we get Garrett after he just broke the single season sack record. Not even Cleveland could fuck that up…well…nah…).

I’d be great with McSnead focusing on CB and OL with ann Adams replacement in the mix.

We’re so close, I think we just need more consistency and better play from the back 7 and we’re there.
They've drafted CB clusters before but always in the Rd 5-7 range. No more of that shit...

What’s the consensus if we go CB with R1.13: Delane or McCoy?
I say either but there are people who think Delane isn't worth 13 and some that are afraid of McCoy coming back from injury. I think either step in and are cb1 for a lot of teams.

I think one will be taken high, then they likely will take a couple later hoping one of those later guys hits. It is a deep CB draft, and for a zone scheme you can find guys later.

So a top caliber FA, a top draft pick, keep McCreary, add a couple more draft picks in rds 5, 6 or 7

I'm at a lost as to why the Rams would want to trade for and then pay the 5'10 1/2" with sub 30" arms McDuffie vs. simply just signing his 6' 2" teammate with 32" arms in Jaylen Watson as a free agent for no trade compensation.
Agreed. his name was brought up. That’s why I asked.

I guess the answer could be: if his teammate and all other FA CBs sign elsewhere - then you need a plan B (or G)

Yeah, they would have to trust the Rams telling them they want to trade the pick
Anything is possible, but IMO, not very likely.

The more probable target would be the Cowboys at #12 who at the moment have no day 2 picks for 2026 and no 1st rounder in 2027.

Either way, my guess is that the Jets got those three 2027 1st round picks for that expected QB draft class.

Plus, by draft day those teams will probably have signed or obtained Malik Willis, Kurt Cousins, or Kyler Murray or someone else with the plan to wait for 2027.

If KC loses Watson to free agency I question if they trade McDuffie.

Plan B would probably be elsewhere or the NFL draft.

Whatever people want to do with Byron Young (trade/keep), his age probably should factor in. He's only about 7 months younger than Maxx. He might have peaked. A large chunk of a big money contract extension would be due in his age 30+ years.

Yeah, not sure why the Jets would take a QB now. They should just improve their OL and defense to prepare for a QB next year. They should, in reality, tank this coming season. Probably why they kept Glenn. They will sacrifice him, as he is a best coach to have to unintentionally tank a season.

I just read the Steelers are high on Will Howard. If Rodgers comes back, maybe they pass on Simpson. The Cards may wait until next year. Same with the Browns. Another team with a QB situation who could tank the 26' season.

And as you said some of these teams will get Willis or Murray. Cousins probably doesn't stop a team from taking a QB however.

So Simpson might be there at 29 if nobody trades up into late rd 1 before the Rams pick. If so, then I think the Rams would have to take him. It would he a cheap attempt to get a QB, having to only to use a late 1, versus in the future maybe having to trade multiple high picks to get a QB. Obviously they would have to believe in him.

This is my theory on why they've largley only drafted CBs in the 4th or later. If this is the case, why would they deviate from that now and take one early?

With the possible exception of a soon to be 29 year old Max Crosby are there really that any players that might become available that would be really worth trading for who aren't comparable to the talent in free agency or even the draft?

If they are to make any trades methinks they might want to focus on moving a day three draft selection or two for some young player who no longer fits the scheme of his newly hired head coach.
Part of me can see this but at the end of the day is Crosby that much of an upgrade over BY? IDK -BY had more sacks this year. He seems to be trending up. I like both players so I'm torn if that were to happen

Because they currently don’t have anyone that can cover a bed or get to a spot before the WR.
Agreed! No situation is permanent, our past strategy doesn't need to be our present approach. The amount you can improve the DB position group with one quality pick-up has to be strongly considered, with guys like Delane that can play man or zone and FA's that can greatly improve the group you need to strongly consider whether that value is greater than the other options and I think most agree that addressing CB would bring the single greatest improvement.

So you're confident they're gonna change the approach or you just want them to?

Every year I do mock drafts with early CB selections, so I'm always hoping, but if I had to bet real money, I wouldn't bet on a change.
