Man... when you look at our Special Teams, and particularly the kickers...

Is there a better Tandum? Who would give them a run for their money?

I think there is little doubt Hekker is the best punter... but I'd be hard pressed to find a better PK than Zuerlein. He's definitely top 5, I think .

Who gives these guys a run for their money?

Yeah CGI I love our kickers too. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about GZ after his back surgery. It takes an incredible amount of torque and twisting action to kick a football like he does and I just hope and pray that he is healed up and has his strength and function back like in days of yore.

Good thread though so thanks for that!!

If Greg Zuerlein is back to last year's form prior to the injury then yes, I felt Zuerlein was even superior to Justin Tucker last season, who I believe, is the best in the business. Some really good place kickers out there with Will Lutz (Saints), Tucker, the Kicker for the Evil Empire, Harrison Butker of the Chiefs, Jake Elliott for the Eagles, again quite a few, but I'll take our combination of Zuerlein & Hekker and I'm looking forward to seeing Sam Ficken kicken for somebody else next year.

Nobody gives them a run for their money as a tandem, and the Rams for sure have the best ST's in the NFL.

I remember a couple or so years ago reading a Cardinals fan after a bad Rams team beat them with ST play that "the Rams don't have kickers, they have ass-kickers".

Haha he nailed it.

As a place kicked a back usually goes bad not due to the impact of kicking the football repeatedly, but due to the tork that is needed to kick the football. And that tork come from the twisting of the back to create the needed strength behind the swing of the leg, much like the golfer's swing in his arms gets it power from the tork in the back.

I am of the belief that Mr. Leg's career will be shortened by this, but he should be fine for 2 or 3 years. Now the Rams could lengthen those years of someone else could handle the kick off duties.

But for the foreseeable future, no other tandem even comes close to Zeurline and Hekker.

Hands down the only kicking team that could even come close to our amazing Duo.

Time for Young Geezy to get that record!

Our boys are the #1 duo in the league HANDS DOWN.

But that still doesn't make them real people.

No fair ever mentioning our special teams and forgetting to mention our Invisible Man, long snapper, Jake McQuaide. I have been bragging for years that Jake, Johnny, and Greg the Leg were the NFL's best special teams battery, and I seriously doubt that any other trio else is really close.

Good point on McQuaide. Dude had to follow Chris Massey who was awesome himself.

We’ve been spoiled by those two.

How many muffed long snaps do other teams experience every year? Can't be more than one or two tops right?

The importance of the kicking game is huge in the course of a football game. Punters who consistently pin opponets deep, making their offense go the whole field every possession is a huge advantage. Hekker has punts from his own end zone that ended up inside the 20. Huge field position change.

Add to that a place kicker who consistently kicks off out of the end zone negating any return and making teams start at their own 25. Zecker is also consistent kicking FG's over 45 and 50 yds, With the ability to make 60+ making the Rams able to score from almost mid field.

Rams rarely had to start deep in their own teratory, while teams they played did.

Kicking game is a huge advantage for the Rams.
