Disc Golf

Just curious.

I've been playing disc golf for about 10 years and have really started to get into playing the last 2 to 3 years. I was just wondering if any of you play at all. Where do you play? What discs you like to throw?

I have found to really enjoy playing it and have really started to try to focus on my technique and that's something I also really love to eat up when studying football and the Rams.

There is a course right up the street from me. Played a few times with my buddy but I suck at it. He's pretty good, but sucks at real golf so it's a wash.

But we have some serious battles on the mini golf (putt putt golf) circuit, as long as booze is involved

If @A.J. Hicks have any tips or videos to share especially on throwing overhand, that'd be great. Only driving about 30 yards with a backhand.

Lots of great tutorials on YouTube. I've added about 50 feet to my drive in the past few weeks.

I used to play all the time, but I travel a lot and haven't had the time. There are courses everywhere in NC so it's really easy to find a course. The head brewer at the brewery I used to work for wants to play and he just moved right next to the course I learned to play on, so it's in my future to get back into it.

My friends drag me out to Shady Oaks a couple times a year. They play a few times a week, so it can frustrating sometimes just trying to keep up with them and you're right, there are a lot of serious players there. We play up in Auburn and Condon Park in Grass Valley occasionally as well. It's a bit more relaxed at both those locations.

That’s over by my office. I played one of those courses in San Diego with a cousin back in the ‘80s but I’ve never played one around here.

I've never played but I have know people that have played.

I think I would be really good at it since I can throw a Frisbee like nobody's business.

I know thee are some courses around here maybe I will check it out sometime.

I've played a dozen or so times. A friend of my dads gave me 3 discs as a starter kit. I'm not as good as him, but better than my dad. Makes for a fun outting. Only played at Oak Grove regional park here in Stockton, they have 3 courses and change them up from time to time. Now that my dad is retired I should drag him out for some exercise and good laughs.

I just played yesterday for the first time. My son has a set of discs.

It’s a great game because it’s one of those “anybody can play” together. Less focus on gear and practice level unlike normal golf... I mean, we’ve all thrown a frisbee before.

I know there are disc golfers that are very good and take it pretty seriously, but it felt more casual to me and therefore I enjoyed it very much.

I love all of the replies. I have a group of friends that will get together and play. We play pretty casually, usually having a few drinks while we play the course. We have gotten a bit more competitive now that we have tags with a ranking number.

I need to check out some more courses out.

I used to use the Shark for approach, but I am having a hard time finding those for some reason.

When I lived in Phoenix, there was a neighborhood bar called the 19th hole. If you brought in your golf discs and set them on the bar, shots were a dollar.
