I never was a huge Chris Long fan he seemed like a budget Grant Wistrom to me.
I disagree I think he was a better player than Wistrom, and I liked Wistrom.
It's just a shame that guys like SJAX, especially SJAX, who gave his heart and soul to the St Louis Rams.....a guy whose career was, by and large, swallowed by the horrible after-GSOT years and to say he doesn't have an NFL home because his team moved to LA, is beyond bad.
I think because of Jackson's personality he was attached to the fans and city. The fans loved him because of his leave it all on the field play week in and week out for years for garbage teams.
Like, I'm a die hard Cardinals fan (baseball) and from the early age of 10...I knew who Bob Gibson, Stan Musial and the greats were....We just never got that when the Rams were in St. Louis.
One of a handful of big mistakes Frontiere made was exactly that, not connecting the new fanbase to the team. IMO she was arrogant because the team rode into town and was well received even though they weren't very good when they showed up. It was flippant and arrogant and made many of us long time fans dislike her even more.
And speaking of St. Louis...I knew there were going to be some fans that stopped watching Rams football when the team left for LA....But I never thought pretty much the entire city would drop the team.
It's easy to understand just look at how it went down.
I can tell you watching fans back home in CLE after the Browns left for Baltimore made me really understand how a team can really be such a big part of the local fabric. Nobody was rooting for the Ravens in NE Ohio, trust me.
