Entering last night's game, the talk was that the Rams dominated the Raven's in the two practices. Coach Harbaugh described them as ok performance by his team when pressed by media. It was well known that Rams would not use starters except for a couple of guys. In fact, in the Ram's broadcast with Siciliano, Schraeger, and Burleson had tape of the dominant practices to show in response to possible sketchy performance of the Rams back-ups on the field, ready prepared for broadcast.

Not only did Harbs come out with his starters in all phases, he used a fast tempo offense against the Rams defense in the opening series. Not only did this make it hard for the Rams vanilla scheme defense, Wade couldn't change personnel easily....7 points after the extra point.

Flacco and the #1's stayed on the field for another couple of series, and then Flacco was replaced by Jackson(?) with the rest of the 1's still on the field....The scoring continued.

The Raven defense was on the field as well, testing the kids on the Oline (except for Brown), with future HOFer Terrell Suggs beating his man like a rented mule, at times.

Situational football or saving face? I think it was a little of both for the Ravens HC.

I think he absolutely wanted to in an effort to appease the fans. Also he’s on like a 10game preseason win streak.

Yeah, they really wanted to win. I had that thought several moments during the game. Every team approaches preseason in their own way. I think we are seeing McVay's way. He wants to evaluate out of base concepts, and he doesn't want anyone to get hurt, who may be in the rotation. He probably feels it too early in conditioning to put certain players at risk.

Harbaugh, scheming, going for it on 4th down, picking on Troy Hill...shame, shame.

Mannion isn't our solution at backup.......PERIOD. I don't want to hear any more excuses for him.

I think Harbs has more to prove than we do atm, so yes that absolutely crossed my mind. This could be Harbs last year as a HC, Ozzie (arguably one of the best gm's around) is gone after this, 3 years not making the playoffs, Flaccos not going to be around much longer, etc. After they won the super bowl and lost the entire team, they've never been the same. We're on the up while they are on the down.

If that's what he needed to get his team going. Nothing wrong with a little urgency, even this early.

Losing his job if they don't make the playoffs this year.

Harbaugh is feeling some heat would be my guess

No playoffs since 2014/15 season

Here is a conspiracy theory for you den...I wonder if McVay was so consumed with getting Goff ready for the season last year and didn't want any competition with his Jared for the starter's spot, he made sure the least dangerous QB was left on the squad. I dimly remember that some serious Goff doubters were speculating that Mannion should be ready in the regular season, if Goff didn't work out. This is the season that Mannion gets the scrutiny by McVay, and Allen is waiting for McVay to make his decision.

I believe they picked up Brandon Allen because of QB Coach Greg Olson, who is now in Oakland/Las Vegas. Olson coached Allen in Jacksonville and the plan was to bring back Dan Orlovsky (who was awful) but when the Jags released Allen the Rams claimed him and maybe, just maybe Allen will be the number 2.
