Still wondering why Washington drafted Newton when you already have and are paying Jonathan Allen and DeRone Payne. Some teams just can't get out of a cycle of stupidity I guess.

Let's go all defense the first two days - give me an ILB and a ball hawk free safety in the third!

They're looking at it the wrong way. Again, the Rams moved up in the second with a second (next year in a weaker class) and a fifth. They didn't give up any of their four third round picks (as of now), and they'll have plenty of ammunition to trade up and down as needed.
By all objective measures, they overpaid. Let's just hope Fiske makes it worth the price.

And I objectively state, it was worth the risk, considering the drop-off of the DT class, the fact that we gave up none of our thirds this year (both of which can be used to move up or - more likely - down the board.

I don't look at it as overpaying; if you see your target potentially getting picked before you, you do what you have to do.

Yeah, my buddy is a commodes fan and didn't get the pick, all while I'm sobbing.

And the drop off was very real. Maason Smith is a big downgrade to Fiske, who some "experts" had in the 1st.

It’s really that simple, isn’t it? When the guy starts making pro bowls and putting up crazy stats, nobody will give two shits what he cost us.

Maybe the Rams had Fiske at say 20 on their draft board. If that's the case their valuation of the move-up doesn't look so bad.

Bottom line is fans don't know the team boards. Watching Kiper and all these other guys do their boards gets you in the ballpark but teams are at a different level with this shit. And it's still guesswork I think.
