I just started looking at the TE class this year, I don't know how someone doesn't get excited about them (more than the WR class).

The top 4 guys look great and it seems like the talent extends well beyond that.
I'm hoping for upgrades at both positions.

The TE class is stronger for sure but with the way McVay uses WRs, we have to upgrade that room too. I'm not sure how because neither free agency or the draft are great options this year.

I suspect people may be equating how McVay used Kupp (and to a lesser extent Nacua) as part of his offensive system rather than him using these guys for their unique skill sets.

Yes, he wants WR's to block but if you look at the Redskins and even when he started with the Rams before he knew what he had in Kupp he was looking to play a lot more 12 personnel (drafting Gerald Everett early and over Kupp).

McVay can pivot in his offensive system, he has before. I expect his offense to evolve more now that Kupp is gone. That may look like going back to more 12 personnel (we already had an uptick this year) or maybe he finds a WR can that act like a Kupp.

I think we might plug holes in FA at pass catcher but that'll be it. I think the Rams will find the TE of the future (and weapon this year) in this draft and a complementary receiver too (sadly, I don't think there's gonna be a number 1 receiver at X or any position in this draft for us).

I was more referring to his high dependence on 11 personnel than how he used Kupp/Nacua. Part of his rationale and explanation in the past for the dependence on 11 is he's wanted uniform looks so the defense doesn't know what's coming.

I'm skeptical he's going to make an abrupt change and use a lot of 12. Sure, he used a TE more in Washington, but in 8 years with the Rams he's used very little 12 personnel. Even with Everette, it didn't look like the intent was necessarily to get two TEs on the field.

Now, to be fair, he's talking about wanting to be more versatile. I guess I'll believe it when I see it. I've seen evolution but not abrupt changes from McVay.

I doubt the rams are interested. They've been going the obvious young route the last two seasons. Signing a declining vet doesn't make sense. If it was DA from 4 years ago. Yes
They're also committed to Stafford though, and he's 37. I don't think they're fully restricted to the youth movement.

Depends on what he'd cost to acquire.

I'd be interested if he was willing to take a one year deal for a similar amount they paid Robinson. But I doubt he'd go for that.

I think the personnel will determine whether it's an abrupt change or not. McVay certainly likes to do things a certain way like using uniform looks but I think if you watch his work going back to the Redskins, personnel has dictated what he's done more than rules like making things uniform.

He's used little 12 personnel with the Rams because his players didn't dictate that. Everette wasn't good enough to make 12 personnel more useful. I suspect if they take one of the top TEs in this draft we'll see a significant increase in 12. And I think it's looking like the talent late 1st to mid rounds at TE is superior to WR in many respects so I can see him going that way.
