I may have missed this, but with Darnold gone, I guess Salen told Shanahan what QB he was planning to take? So the Niners moved up to get "their guy" at #3? Will be interesting to see who they pick and how it works out for both teams. Those 2 QB's careers will be tied together for a long time.

Jones doesn’t seem like the kind of guy you trade up for but then again maybe we put too much value on measurables. He was a good qb on the Alabama all-star team but how does that translate? There’s no sense in putting out smokescreens the top three are locked in. Maybe Shanny is going against the grain and getting a pocket guy, Brady is still winning after all.

Unless they're trying to make Mac Jones' draft stock rise in hopes the Jets maybe take him at 2 and SF get Zach Wilson. Don't think it will happen but doesn't hurt to try if you're them.

All the Alabama teammates said they prefer Mac Jones over Tua at QB so the kid is pretty good. He has a great ability to process information and make quick decisions. He's in the Matt Ryan/Kirk Cousins mold so it makes sense for SF to like him. I'm not the biggest fan of Fields, I think he's overrated personally. But I really, really like Trey Lance and don't really want him going to SF because he's going to be a beast.

They also scheduled workouts with the other two guys. I wouldn't read anything into the pro day thing because they'll get a good look at all three.

I don't care who the Whiners take as long as it ain't Zach Wilson. From what I can gather there is a lot of risk with the troika of Fields, Jones and Lance.
So let's hope the Whiners blow it and set themselves back a decade or so.

I liked Darnold at SC, he had some magic there and probably a better team than he had with the jets.

He’ll have some great weapons and a fresh start and a others have mentioned he is still very young.

I’m glad NYJ didn’t keep him and trade out with the whiners but I guess 2 or 3 isn’t much difference.

I still like the Rams FO and McVay over S.F. The commitment they have to winning will have us set up for years to come.

This is a great move by the Panthers. You basically risk a 2nd rounder for a top 10 talent and still pay him peanuts. Getting out of the Jets is a blessing. This guy was coached by Gase and Clay Helton, good lord.

I was listening to a show and they were talking about how drafting qbs is an inexact science, guys like Paxton Lynch, Bortles and Trubisky for example, but then turn around and rave about guys like Trey Lance and Matt Jones.
I’m just glad the Rams aren’t involved in that circus, this year anyway.

Who does Shanahan like ?

I’ve been in the Bay Area a lot & from time to time listen to him after games & in the offseason.I know he loves football & that is what he does.During Covid he was in lock down a couple times.Jets & Giants early where that field caused a lot of injuries.
I know after a tough loss he took it hard,but gets back after it.He also prepares for The Rams more than any other team.Injured or not his players come out for those games.They are all in.
I remember an interview on evaluating a QB & Jimmy G was just signed.He talked about the QB position.He is different than Sean Mcvay in the sense of his mind set about scouting.He Will always scout the top QB’s.He has his own way of finding a QB he thinks will be successful. I call it a cocky attitude of his own knowledge.I guess this is that moment we will find out ?? I really hope he screws it up.I’m also sure even though they paid a lot,he believes they won’t have another Lossing season in awhile.
—Mcvay is all in on Matthew Stafford & development of a backup means a lot to him.He is about coaching & building relationships.It’s an extension & bound.He is going to worry more about his players and team.Drafting a top QB is never a thing he going to want.
—Green Bay last season moving up to draft a QB is an example of something Mcvay wouldn’t do.It’s we not me. Then again what is Staffords future & how many more years ?? 5-8 more ??
