Josh Harris, an owner of the N.B.A.’s Philadelphia 76ers and the N.H.L.’s New Jersey Devils, agreed in principle to buy the Washington Commodes for a record $6 billion from Dan Snyder, the longtime owner of the team plagued by scandals that drew investigations from the N.F.L., Congress and other government agencies.

With the end of Snyder’s tenure nearing, the N.F.L. can begin to distance itself from a painful chapter in its history and right the future of the popular franchise, which under Snyder had been tarnished by accusations of a toxic workplace and an inability to secure a new stadium.

The sale, first reported by Sportico, was confirmed by a person with knowledge of the agreement who was not authorized to speak publicly about the terms.

About time is all I can say. Time to move the team to NJ and change the name to the Ramapo Hillbillies. But then again the Hillbillies might take offense so maybe Ramapo Rednecks.

Now change the name to the Red Hogs. It fits the chapter of the Hogs, and it's better than Commodes (and not racist like the other name).

So, does this mean that Snyder can just wash his hands of the wrong doing and comes out of it smelling like a peach?

If so, it reminds me of Pete Carrol leaving USC to go to the NFL.

Fyi “redskin” was an 18th century Native American term. I understand it can now be viewed as offensive or racist, but that was not its original etymology.

I'm sure Snyder will try to do what every Rich Person does when in trouble, he'll throw money at it.

So does this guy have to transfer the ownership of his other American pro teams?

Synder paid $800m in 1999. He is now selling for north of 6 BILLION. What a handsome profit for a scumbag POS.
